In the final game, Kenyon Martin was 3-23 from the floor. Martin is called "K-Mart" and like his namesake, Martin came up bankrupt. In the NY area they have a phrase to describe this kind of performance in a key NBA playoff game; they call such a performance "pulling a Starks".

if he had the flu and knew he wasnt hitting his shots he should be smart enough to stop taking them....he needs to go to Pete Newells big man camp to get some footwork otherwise he will be a mediocore player for the rest of his career that is best known for throwing down dunks

flu, nerves, fear, its all just excuses isnt it? chumps who arent good enough to step up in big games make excuses. real stars dont need to. this is the NBA. u cant just say "i would have had a great game and won us a title like i deserve but my tummmy hurt. no it really hurt but trust me. im a star." etc. U could see it in jason kidds eyes as he walked off the court, it was as if he was realizing in his head "wow. these guys played great and picked up when duncan was struggling on the bench. im surrounded by a bunch of pretenders. i gotta get out of here".

3-23...even antoine WALKER wouldnt have done that bad [IMG]

i think he was over the flu by game 6. i think sam smith said something like that @ ESPN. by taking 23 shots, you'd figure that he thought some of them would go in eventually. but they didn't.

i found another one (surfing espn.com)
    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">
Kenyon Martin, is a bogus big man. (Real players don't let anything short of a broken limb wipe them out in the Finals. Martin should have dug deep into himself and kept on digging until he found the courage to keep on trucking. Was Martin any sicker than Jordan was against Utah in the fifth game of the 1998 Finals? With all of his chest-beating and self-aggrandizing antics, K-Mart went 3-for-23 in the biggest game of his life.)
    </div>

and this: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2003/story?id=1568501 that one was REALLY harsh. almost makes me feel bad. considering that he acknowledged that he let his team down

35 points didn't prevent them from getting swept, so they dont cancel eachother out.

ohoh.. it's K-mart bash time again...
yes, he had 2 bad games... and they said he had the flu.. but K-mart himself never said the flu caused him to play that bad...
In game 6 he was really not feeling it, he took some really bad shots, which were blocked by Duncan, but he also took a couple of good ones, like the ones he always takes, but they just weren't falling for him. That really sucks, but it happens to everyone now and then. Even MJ had games like this. Too bad for K-mart and the Nets that it happened in the decisive game 6. It could be nerves, or pressure, but can you really blame somebody who's trying real hard? Can you blame someone who scored 20 ppg in the first 4 games of the Finals?
Don't think so... Can you blame his coach? I think so.. in Game 5 and 6, Scott should've taken him out much earlier to protect him, and find other ways to win the game... Everybody saw K-mart was struggling.. he missed 6 consecutive shots while the Nets were protecting a 12 point lead in the 4th quarter of Game 6. Why did he let him play? I really don't have a clue....

and by the way... why is everybody saying that Jason Kidd had a great game? He shot 8 for 20, and hurried and missed some really important ones down the stretch.... He also didn't take control of the Nets while things were going badly...
This series against the Spurs showed that they almost have no halfcourt offense against zone, how's that possible? They were trying to drive to the basket again and again.... and were blocked again and again...
In Europe... everybody know's how to play against a zone defense.. were the weaknesses are... you simply have to force them back into man-to-man by hitting a couple of outside shots... but the Nets couldn't do it... because Kidd didn't run such an offense..

whose said Kidd had a great game? lol...that wasn't his best game. I just heard that Tim Duncan was on fire on that game...so yeah...he did have lots of assist, and helped the team to be on fire...but that didn't help them to win game 6.

Kidd had just 7 assists in Game 6.. which is not a lot for him or any PG in the league... Being the leader that he is, he should've stepped up in the fourth quarter, but he didn't... so I think K-marts bad play isn't the only reason for the defeat...
But it's just how people wanna see it... first they said that K-mart wasn't important to the Nets.. and now the same people say that it's his fault they lost...
