I'd say it looks good but looks can be deceiving. Man I can't wait for training camp because last year the pats started holding it at Gillete and I moved and work in the area so I'll definitely be checking out some of training camp.
its tough to say but i think they have legitimate chance that they can repeat. they have a good offense w/ an even better defense. i think they have maybe the second or third best chance to win.
I think it's a cool Idea. I'm intrested as well. As for the eagles I know Dawk doesn't want to hear it but I think regardless of T.O. or Kripple...I mean Kerse I think they take a step back. They should make the playoffs but I'd say they are in the toughest division right now just cus of the caliber of coaching. I just don't think they reach the NFC championship for the 4th straight year. Colts.....NO D end of story. Dungy pulls a miracle off and I'd change my mind. And the same goes for the Packers...they really just don't have enough on either side of the ball. Farve still doesn't have that go to receiver and Ahman Green was unbelievable last season but he still fumbles to much (and it cost them a game).
Well anything's possible. The NFC will continue to be the weaker conference IMO. So maybe Philly, Green Bay, Carolina, or even Seattle could challenge for the right to represent the NFC.
I like Seattle alot this year. I think if there defense can step it up they could easily walk out of the NFC. Carolina is a solid team still though I would like to see there O-line play after losing over half the starters.
Carolina has a great coach and will be a very solid team this year. Seattle is the up-and-coming in the NFC, but I don't know if any of these teams mentioned can win the big game.
Ya the AFC just has some serious teams in it and I'm not sure the NFC will be able to overcome it this season.
I actually think Green Bay has the best chance of the 4 teams to beat an AFC team... but even that could be a stretch at this point.
I'm just not that high on green bay for two reasons 1) Both Farve and Green make way to many costly turnovers during the season and with everthing being so close in the NFL that is something that is just too hard to overcome. 2) I think there division imporved ALOT this season and if they don't win it I'm not sure they could get a wild card. I really think both the Lions and the Bears will be a tough out next year. Of course i can only base the turnovers on the past and the bears and lions on offseason improvements but Just my opinion.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pats37)</div><div class='quotemain'>I'm just not that high... I really think both the Lions and the Bears will be a tough out next year. </div> Sorry 37; I had to leave that 1st bit in because I guarantee you know who is still lurking around. Further, Don't you mean the Tigers & White Sox will be a tough out? Ha ha! I can't see why NE can't repeat; its not like they have any competition in their division.
i said slim chance, 10-24% i can understand the lack of belief in carolina being a powerhouse, but i am here to tell you that john fox is probably in the top 3 in coaching, and possibly just 3 points behind belicheck (super bowl reference ) from being #1...i think carolina will be in the nfc championship game again this year barring major injury (i would say super bowl, but i can be a little superstitious at times, and feel that might jinx them) the nfc east will be painful to watch this year... giants - major qb and rb issues redskins - gibbs been out too long to impact this quickly(and i like and respect gibbs alot) cowboys - jerry jones...need i say more ??? plus they have no running game eagles - TO...need i say more ??? plus they have no receivers to take pressure off of TO i agree that green bay has seen its last championship with Favre at the helm...i doubt the capabilities of their coaching staff, also nfc south is hardcore...since the league went to 4 team divisions, the nfc south is 2nd only to the afc east in wins...in the last 5 super bowls, the nfc was represented by a division opponent of the panthers 4 times...the one year it didn't happen, john fox was there as dc of nygiants...that is what makes it the toughest division in nfl in my book
I think the Patriots have as good a chance as any team to repeat in recent years. They're an excellent team that went out and got serious help for one of their weaknesses. I applaud them for picking up Corey Dillon.
I totally agree Dale. We have addressed are weaknesses well this offseason which were Depth at corner and Running back. Also there is a determination to not repeat the dissapointing 2002 season and be able to come out and play at the same level as before. As for no compition in our division I think you wrong. If Buffalo can get a spark they could be tough and the Jets are at least a Year away. I never count out a team with as much talant as the phins even if Wanny is sinking the...I mean running the ship CrazyBacon, I have never denied the talant of your team or the ability of your coaching staff, but your division will be tougher than it was last season as the Bucs should rebound and a healthy Vick has proven to be the worst case scenario for your defense. The Saints will be the Saints again but they are a tough team to stop if they can find room for McAlister. All in all I think you should repeat as division winners but I think letting basicly your whole starting O-line leave and relying on Ricky (I had one game now I'm a Star) Manning as one of your two corners could be dangerous. He talked a good game but was invisible against good not great receivers. Stick me against wrong route running Stinkston and I might even get a pick. Then just like Brady did Delhomme must now prove he was not a one hit wonder which I doubt he is but thats the pressure he'll face all season. This will show how good of a coach Fox really is as his team will have a mark on their back all season as defending NFC Champ. I would love to see a rematch though the chances are astronomical
My only concern as a Pats fan is the r-zone(since red is forbidden) offense. I was hoping we'd get a BIG WR that could win those jump balls in the corner of the end zone. Hopefully Dillon's impact on 1st & goal will create holes in the r-zone. Our continued success to spread defenses is predicated on having a decent run threat. I have no worries that we will be able to move the chains in 04. However, as u get closer to the r-zone, the area gets smaller & the D has no choice but to play tighter. So it's crucial IMO that Dillon give us TDs in goal line situations. Our defense as scary as it sounds, is only gonna get better.
I can't imagine New England not going deep into the playoffs. Crazier things have happened, but of all the teams that have won Superbowls in the last 7-8 seasons, New England seems like the only "complete" team and with the addition of Dillon, I definitely think he helps complete the offense. The fun part about the NFL is that there are no guarantees, but this looks like the closest you'll get to a guaranteed repeat.
Man SF....I should have abused my moderator powers and deleted the last paragraph because if I remember correctly you have no luck in predicting things. Though you didn't predict it you did come close to a guaranree and that might be even more scary. I will agree on paper we are by far the most complete team in the NFL but one key will be either Tyrone Poole playing with the same ability he had all of last year and our nose takcle situation being stable and allowing Bruschi to rome free. Other than that we will improve our field position by default now that Walter is gone and we have a proven solid punter in Josh Miller and I still can't believe we won 15 in a row with a punter lucky to kick it 40 yards on a couple of bounces...though he got some huge bounces. The field position alone will be huge for our defense which was getting no help in that department last season.
