<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Darko Milicic's European team intends to keep the 7-foot-1 star and threatens legal action against any NBA team attempting to sign him.

The 18-year-old center from Serbia and Montenegro plays for Hemofarm Vrsac. The Detroit Pistons are expected to choose him with the overall No. 2 pick in Thursday's NBA draft following Cleveland's selection of LeBron James.

Milicic is considered the best big man in the draft. He comes out of a pro league where most players are in their mid-20s.

A message left with the Pistons on Friday was not immediately returned.

Hemofarm said Thursday it plans to file a lawsuit in New York against Milicic's agent Marc Cornstein, contending he is interfering with the player's contract. Milicic has played for Hemofarm since 2000, and the club said it has Milicic under contract through 2009.

``We are open for negotiations on the issue,'' Miodrag Babic, president of Hemofarm Group, said in a statement. ``The contracts in question are valid.''

The team also plans to initiate arbitration proceedings against any NBA team that attempts to sign Milicic. That action would come before the Swiss-based Court of Arbitration for Sports.

NBA teams are not prevented from drafting players under contract to foreign teams. League rules, however, stipulate an NBA team can pay no more than $350,000 toward buying out a player's contract.

Natasha Cornstein, the wife and spokeswoman of Milicic's agent, said Friday she was unaware of any legal proceedings. She said Hemofarm is trying to pressure Milicic.

Any litigation ``will not impede Darko from realizing his NBA dream,'' she said.</div>

This is a crazy twist. They claim they have him signed until 2009, and the NBA only allows payment for 350K for a buyout. I hope this team has no case because Darko belongs in the NBA.

If he is not allowed to enter the draft, I wonder how dumb 'Melo feels about skipping out on the Pistons workout. Does Detroit take him still, gamble on Milic, trade the pick, or draft someone else?

Miodrag is such a dumbass, I never liked him. He sees a chance for a european player to represent his country and show of his talent, and this bit*h is being selfish. Fu*k Hemofarm, they always sucked ass.

I could actually care less for who we draft, because I think they all suck (melo included) the only one I actually like and I think will make it is LeBron. Wade will do good too.

It's bad but worse for raptors...then they would have to settle for TJ ford...as pavel pulled and and maybe darko..we would get bosh...but i'm confident we will get darko...remember last year..the same thing was mentioned with yao ming...when his team said this kind of thing....and he still got to play for rockets

I would rather have later picks then these earlier ones, there's too much hidden talent in the later first round/early-mid second. (Travis Outlaw, Wayne Wallace)

I think if i was the raptors GM i would go for T.J. Ford to begin with his height and strength arent that geat but we are going to need another PG because Alvin Willams is getting older.

    to answer your question rock

No because he is on contract til 2009  ...we would draft bosh...but i was talking to a mate about 15 minutes ago and he said pistons will keep darko...the euro team will just ask for money to buy him out....there is no serious threat us losing him....they don't want darko to not be happy or live his dream to play in the NBA..they just want something back considering they are having to lose a big name player...things will be sorted out soon enough..
