Lampe: It’s hard to say. I worked out for 10 teams and I felt all the workouts went pretty well. I don’t think I had any bad workouts. All of them went great.

Q: How did you get that (left eye) shiner?

Lampe: I got that in Miami yesterday where I had a workout. I didn’t even know the guy’s name, but I had to quit in the middle of it because they
thought it might be fractured. But it wasn’t. I didn’t really go through the whole workout there.

Q: How many times had you been to the States before this series of workouts?

Lampe: This is the first time.

Q: So this crazy circus is your introduction to the United States.

Lampe: Crazy circus? It’s been kind of stressful, you have to travel from city to city and work out. But you enjoy it. You have the opportunity to come here and see different cities and meet people and it’s been great.

Q: A lot of the American players are very nervous. Are you?

Lampe: I don’t think I’m nervous. The question is you don’t know where you are going to go. I’m not nervous because I would be happy to go anywhere. Whoever picks me I would be happy to play for them. In the end it doesn’t matter that much how high you go: we are all going to play in the NBA, and after the draft it just matters what you do on the court when you are playing, not how high you get drafted.

Q: One of your attributes appears to be that you are a big man who can shoot outside.

Lampe: I don’t really like to talk about my game that much. I think I shoot decently from the outside, but of course I have a lot of things to improve on to become a good player in the NBA. You don’t have to say something that you are not. Once you get out there and show what you can do, let them do the talking. You don’t have to say much.

Q: What are differences between the NBA style and European play?

Lampe: In the NBA they play a lot more individual game. In Europe it is more strategic, more five-on-five play, with a lot of set plays, a lot of screens, and set defenses. I personally prefer American basketball. It is more attractive for the viewer to watch, and it has more action, and that is the kind of basketball I like.

Q: Before Nowitzki came into NBA, could you not imagine yourself being in the NBA?

Lampe: No, because we had Drazen Petrovic and a lot of players. Dirk is the one who is blowing up lately, but there are a lot of European players who have done a great job in the NBA. There is a lot of talent in Europe, a lot of big guys who can handle the ball and good shooters, too. If they get the work in over here, they can become very good players.

Q: Is Dirk your role model?

Lampe: I don’t like comparing myself to anyone. Dirk is a great player, a superstar, so to get to that level there is a lot of work.
