Who would you rather have on your team for '03-'04 Fantasy Basketball Season?

I'm in an ESPN Rotosissire League (counts Points, Assists, Rebounds, Blks, 3's made, steals, FG%, FT%) and I'm absolutely torn between these two guys. I'm keeping Shawn Marion and Tim Duncan for sure and I'm leaning towards Yao over Stoudamire right now because of Yao's advantage in Blocked shots and I think Stoudamire is closer to having reached his potential than Yao.

    Lemme know what you think!

amare..the guy is a beast..monster inside..and isn't afraid to attack..ming seems to be..he doesn't take it strong like amare does..neither have reached their poteinal yet..still loads to come from them

i go on record in saying..when it's all said and done amare will still be the better player

I would pick Amare just because last season he had the best season over any recent high-schoolers, even KG(when he was a rookie). This guy can only get better, and even this season his stats were equal-to or a bit better than yaos.

I'd expect Amare to be better.

is amare or duncan eligible at the Center position? if not then Yao is the obvious choice.

i think for fantasy purposes yao is the better choice. he has more blocks, shoots a high FT% for a center, and has a high FG%. van gundy is going to build the team around him so his stats will be a lot better than last season. i give yao the slight edge.

    tough choice though.

Good point about eligibility Shape, but Duncan is C eligible...

I like Yao better for the same reasons you do.

thefranchise- Why do you think Amare will get lots better? I never saw anything in his game but one or two power moves in the post, he didn't change it or add anything as the year went on...I think he's a tough inside player, but he may top out at 15 and 10. Where do you think he'll make up ground with Yao's advantage in FT% and Blks?

allnet- remember this is fantasy sports. Yao doesn't get penalized for not being as aggressive around the hoop as he should be.

I also would pick Yao. The Rockets are changing their offense under Van Gundy to revolve around him.

i dunno. i'm saying Amare. he gets more boards. you can have Duncan block shots.

tons of coaches liked him because he was "raw". he's nowhere near the prime of his career, and i can only imagine he'd get better. this was supposed to be his year to get used to playing in the league. no one expected him to play the way he did.

yao is a center and centers are harder to get.
