<div class="quote_poster">Quoting "shapecity":</div><div class="quote_post">someone mentioned shaq and his toe. shaq took a lot of heat for being lazy last season and waiting too long to take care of it. his lack of conditioning was one of the main reasons the lakers lost. but instead of making excuses he admitted he was wrong and it was his fault the lakers lost. he has since hired a personal trainer and is working out in the off-season to be ready for a monster and injury free year. this is the type of classy attitude grant hill and mcdyess have shown. they don't sit back and blame everyone around them for their injuries and diminishing skills. they take full responsibility for it.

and yes we are not in the locker rooms, but we don't need to be in the locker rooms with vince. he comes right out and makes comments to the media. he has blamed his teammates, he has blamed lenny wilkens, he has blamed his doctors, but he has never once said it's my fault, i am the reason we lost. that's why people have turned on him. he has not committed to training hard in the off-season to prevent injuries and to improve his game. and his latest fiasco with his comments about chris bosh just shows he hasn't matured. maybe what he said was taken out of context or he was mis-quoted, but from the way vince has been in the past, i don't put it by him saying it.</div>

I don't know which part to correct first. Vince Carter after missing the shot, was very blunt to say that it was his fault. He has said it was his fault, so your wrong. Vince's comments towards Chris Bosh sounded fine to me. He didnt say that Bosh had no game, or that Bosh wasnt good or too skinny, he said that he would prefer to have a proven veteran, I dont think that anything Is wrong with that. Showing that the teams decision actually did affect him shows that he is maturing. Before he didnt care. Sounds like maturity.

    p.s. I mentioned the toe.

make all the excuses you want for vince, everyone knows he sure does, so why not have other people make excuses.

vince cares about winning and the team, well stop the presses, isn't that the point of playing basketball?

let's see vince's track history, he ran t-mac out of toronto, he ran keon out of toronto, and he ran lenny out of toronto. and he already had some choice words for their rookie.

vince took blame for his shot, and he damn well should. but please don't read between the lines and miss the entire point of my post. the point is vince is a damn excuse maker. did you watch the ESPN lifestory on vince? the guy has some serious issues with his confidence, he wants to lead, but doesn't know how, in his mind he is a superstar and because he is a superstar everyone should listen to him. but being the best player on your team doesn't automatically make you a leader and vince fails to realize this.

eventhough i lost respect for vince i want to see him prove me wrong, i want to see him be the allstar he should be, but because he hasn't taken the innitiative to put in the work and lead by example, it pisses me off.

Tmac left because he wanted his own team, vince tried for months to get tmac to stay, tmac was selfish and took the route he wanted too, is to have his own team.

Toronto didn't have enough cap space to afford Keon and tried multiple times to re-sign him...most of the money was spent on VC, AD, and JYD.

lenny ran into some injury problems with the team and agreed to leave the team.

T-Mac left because he wanted the fame. Vince was mad because he left, and T-Mac thought it would be the best. Vince wanted Tmac to stay and that's why he couldnt wait for the ASG2k1, to play with Tmac again.

I never heard Vince or Keon talk trash to eachother, and I dont think you have either. Raps and Vince wanted Keon back to Toronto, and they still do. Keon ran his mouth after he left the Raptors.

And Lenny and the Raps actually did reach and agreement.

Why would you say that this is wrong???

    READ THIS

Keon Clark prides himself on being consistently blunt. You may or may not agree with him, but Clark doesn't back away from the things he says, regardless of whose feelings are bruised.

"One thing about me is, you'll never be left wondering what I'm thinking," the lanky forward/centre said yesterday on the eve of the first game of the season between his current team, the Sacramento Kings, and his former team, the Raptors.

It will be fascinating to see what happens today when Clark and Raptors guard Vince Carter meet each other's gaze for the first time.

For several weeks now, Raptors fans have been buzzing over comments Clark made about Carter in The Sacramento Bee. Among other things, Clark said that while Carter wants all the recognition of being an elite player in the NBA, he does not want to work for it.

Asked yesterday about those comments, Clark replied: "When I say things, you always can be sure I've said the exact same things directly to that person's face, and in the locker room in front of everyone. I don't hide my feelings. I don't talk behind people's backs."

Clark played a season and a half with the Raptors but was not pursued by the club when he became a free agent last summer. Part of the reason was financial, since the Raptors were in cost-cutting mode. But there were other issues as well, one of which was the obvious fact that Clark and Carter were like oil and water.

Carter, who has appeared in only 10 games for the Raptors this season, today will play in his first game since Dec. 8. He was asked yesterday if he feels he has anything to prove to Clark.

"I have nothing to prove to Keon, I have nothing to prove to anybody," Carter said. "Maybe he wanted a verbal war, whatever. I'm not interested. My main objective is to get back on the court to play. That's all that matters and it's all that is going to ever matter for the rest of my life.

"I love playing basketball, I love the game and what it means and the energy it brings to myself and fans and the team. You talk trash on the court, but getting into who's better or what you can't do? For what? Do your thing on the court and let it rest. That's what I'm going to do."

Does Carter know why Clark said what he did?

"I don't care, it doesn't matter to me," Carter said. "If that's what he feels he needs to do to hype himself up ... I don't know, it's not my concern.

"I don't have anything personal (against Clark). Maybe he does, but I don't."

It will be interesting to see how Raptors fans react to Clark today, since he definitely wanted to remain a Raptor last summer. It was the team that passed on Clark, not the other way around.

Clark, who worked his way into a starting role last season, would have re-signed with Toronto at a remarkably affordable rate, too, at least by NBA standards. Instead, Clark now finds himself coming off the bench for what may be the best team in the NBA.

Admittedly, it was not his first choice, but as far as consolation prizes go, it ain't bad.

"We have one of the best teams in the league, so how can I have any complaints?" Clark asked.

Clark is averaging 6.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 22.8 minutes per game in 43 appearances for the Kings (including six starts). Last season with the Raptors, Clark averaged 11.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 27.0 minutes in 81 games (31 starts).

There isn't an NBA player alive who doesn't want to play more minutes than he's playing, but Clark said court time can't be an obsession when you are playing for a team as deep as the Kings.

"It sure won't be about minutes if I end up wearing a championship ring," Clark said. "It shouldn't ever be about minutes."

It doesn't really matter how many minutes Clark plays today.

With his memorable play and memorable quotes, he already greatly has impacted the Toronto basketball community, by both word and deed.

Ok, that was part of the reason. First time I've ever heard of that. But how is Carter the problem? why are you automaticly assuming its Carter's fault? I mean, maybe Keon is just to Blunt and Bold.

And Tracy didn't resign with the Raptors because Vince Carter would not assure him that he was going to be there for the long term. This a quote from T-Mac.

"But verbally, it's just hard to go by that word, because things can change," McGrady said. "I really don't know as far as me and Vince's situation if he stays, will he be willing to stay if I re-sign? Will he be willing to re-sign back with Toronto?"

"You have these veteran guys on the team that don't want to be there; those are the guys I want to play with," McGrady said, apparently referring to Charles Oakley, Antonio Davis and Doug Christie. "It's going to be real tight for me to consider Toronto [now]. There's just a lot of stuff that's not right.

"It's going to be real tough to sign me back. It's going to be real tough."

Of course it's not all Vince's fault T-Mac left, but he had a role in it.

It's Carter's fault because he wants to be the leader of the team. If you are the leader you have to find a way to keep the people who are going to help you win happy. Did you not read what Keon said about him? And how can you ASSUME it's not Vince's fault? That's a dumb argument.

Keon is blunt and bold, he just admitted that didn't he? And obviously vince just can't handle the criticism. Like I stated before he has serious issues about his self confidence.

I think you are overly biased towards Vince and you completely blinded and refuse to see the otherside of the arguement. Keon nailed it perfectly. Vince wants this and that and wants to be the superstar, but doesn't want to put in the work to make this happen. It can't be any more clear than this as to why Vince has gone from being a loved superstar to a hated average player. Keon's comment says it all.

Its not vince's role entirely to do this. The coaches, gm, and other team mates have to do with also. Why do you always put everytihng on Vince. I'm not biased, I just dont understand how a player that has been injured can be overated, or crappy, or even average.

What if Kobe got injured for 2 years? So he cant play, does that mean he is just average. I think Vince is still very good because the last time he played a season with 70+ games he killed the league. I'm talking about on the court. Thats were the skill lies.

i agree with wut ur saying about vinces excuses, but its not necessarily his fault the team lost. vince is only one part of the toronto raptors. if he's not on the court, it's the other guys' responsibilities to win

i agree. its hard for one man to take his team all the way .. .if he's injured, the other teamates should step-up ... we all know vince is just soo good ..but sometimes injuries come!

As much as i hate Vince, he is a top 10 player in the league now since he is healthy. If he was like the 2001 Vince he would probably be a top 5 player in the league with only Duncan, KG, Tmac, and Kobe ahead of him.
