Panthers... not falcons, they dont have enough... Vick isnt the greatest QB ever... hes recovering from an injury that kept him out a year.. tough to bounce back from
i hate the falcons for obvious reasons, but Vick is still good and so is price and with jenkins price can get back to his 2 year ago form. Hall will be the Defensive rookie of the year IMO, and will really help that average defense. watch the saints tho,

I say the panthers as well. Still the best Defense in that division and they were NO FLUKE buddy. As for the Jenkins making Price better theory lets see him get on the field and make a catch before we consider him to the level of ERIC MOULDS...because he is the reason price was nasty and the fact that he had a qb that though dumb sometimes can at least make accurate throws unlike Vick.
Best defense in our division ? They may be one of the best in the league but i dont know if there the best in our divison. I like that my team adding darrell russell who imo is a better run stuffer then sapp could ever be. We get back mr brian kelly and we added a safty who replaces john lynch in jermain phillips who started in 8 games last year when lynch missed some games and he looked damn good actually better then lynch on covering the field. Ian gold addition and him being a upgrade over our other linbacker ryan neece. Derrick Brooks,Ian gold, Shelton Quarles is a damn fast set of linebackers, much like they have in miami. Our foundation is set its been and its matter of showing the world why tampa missed out and that improving your weakness is the way to get back to greatness. Ask the patroits last year we took one out of there book. But the best in the nfc south is yet to be seen. Weve lived on winning over years on playing defense in the nfc south. I like the front 4 on the panther however i take our corners,safteys and linebackers anyday over the panthers. You need more then a d line to win and be the best d in this league.

Bucs I'm sorry but right know they have the best Defense in your division. Your team obviously is the only other Defense in that Division and could be better but they have to step on the field and prove it again to be considered better IMO. I just like Jon Fox and what he has done with that defense. it's not about names it's about making plays and a D-line like that makes it that much easier to make plays. Darrell Russell Could be a good player but he hasn't played in forever and it is unfair to expect him to come in and A) behave cause he never has and play to the pro-bowl level you claim he is at. Sapp was never a good run stuffer either so your bound to be right there but I say lets wait and see cause I have a feeling Russell could be your version of Darryl Gardner. All the talant minus the production.
I still take our defense over the panthers, we have one of the best defensive cordinaters in the nfl. Monte kiffin and we have proven over the last 6 years defense wins. Even last year when our team missed the playoffs we still had the 5th best defense in the nfl. Our coaches feel our team is better and quicker this year, i have to agree with them since our moto is, quick defensive strikes with the ability to make turnovers for points. No team does this better or has over the years. Remember we lost 2 players on d and we replaced them with players who are younger and possibly better. Darby came in all year last year for sapp and played better for alot of games. Russell has much more talent to then darby, so you can see why our coaches are very excited. I dont think russell is anything like gardner, i think he is a player who got his ass into trouble and hopefully learned from it. If he has we have a outstanding dt for cheap. But you are right.. we must prove it on the field.
Shouldn't this thread be entilted NFC South? Not to split hairs, but it seemed odd as I was reading that no one pointed that out. I think the Bucs & Panthers will battle once again. The Wildcard team in this division is the Falcons. They could be the best.... it's going to be an interesting year in the NFC south....
haha I didn't even notice SF. I agree though that The Bucs and Panthers should be the battle but if Vick Stays healthy and plays to his ability and if their Defense shows up they have a good chance. Though alot of IF's for the falcons.
honestly...and this may cause a big controversy against me and you may call me extremely crazy(not that some of you dont already) but i honestly think vick was a 1 and done and he wont do good... i think the injury ruined his chances at being the QB everyone thought he woulld be...

Nflfan, I agree with you for one reason, vick had problems in the offseason with the same ankle and claimed its still sore and bothering him today. Here's why falcons fans should be cautious! Micheal vicks last days at v tech he had problems with the same ankle and he had to where some kinda brace around the ankle. He was never the same. Docters will tell you that once you tweak or break your ankle or the bone around it,. it is ceptible to be tweaked again or possibly broken again. I was reading 2 months ago vick saying his ankle is still sore and that he shouldnt of played at all last season, the pressure from reeve's made him come back to soon. Could vicks ankle be another grant hill story? I think from his days at tech to the nfl i see a problem brewing with this ankle and i think it will hender him. I hope im wrong cause vick is exciting to see play.
One point in comparing D's you claim an advantage that monte kiffin is one of the best defensive coordinators in the league, however john fox was one of the best D coordinators in the league for years with the giants, and look how their D is nwow without him. Second carolina runs the ball better than tampa, I dont care what you say about upgrades in your line and the losses on thiers they run the ball better, they have the better back to do it, and a power running offense. That will make sure their defense is in better shape than tampas rest wise. Third Sauerbrun is best punter in the league so they will have great field position on a regular basis. Another advantage that will play to thier advantage. Fourth of course you think russel will be good, you need him to be because you have no real middle linebacker, they are fast but if he cant hold up in the middle the bucs D is in serious trouble vs run up the middle. A weakness carolina does not have right now. Fifth Tampa's corners are sooooo bad compared to carolina's. Carolinas corners look bad because they play man, tampas corners look good in cover 2. Second, our corners are bad stfu lol We have one of the best corner tandoms in the nfl next to the phins. When brian kelly is in we have our shut down man and barber does his job. Third our safteys dwight smith was 3rd in the nfl in ints last year and was outstanding jermaine phillips played 8 games and looked great. Phillips test will be this year. Dwight proved he is plenty capable. You can knock them all you want bears but the bottom line is tampas Defense is built on speed and our schemes .. no one plays it better. If all these guys suck why is our defense great every year? I can see you wanna disagree but back it up with something other then disagreeing and saying our team is avg on d lol. hold on, i do not remember saying tampa's d was average, i said the scheme makes up for the inadequacies of the players, i.e. the players do not have to do much to look good in pass defense, The weakness of the defense is the run up the middle, which every single team that does that well(carolina, new orleans, etc.) who has tried to do it to the bucs has SUCEEDED. Shelton quarles is a good pass coverage linebacker and should be an outside backer, but he is not a TRUE MIDDLE BACKER he does not hold up well at point of attack. I think they do not compare to Carolina's defense, you of course do because of your bias. I think overall carolinas scheme is more condusive to good defensive production than tampa's. I am not saying tampa cant outplay them i am saying 7 of 10 times i think carolinas d would do a better job.
