ESPN's depth charts say that our Point Guard rotation looks like -

    Jason Williams/Earl Watson/Troy Bell/Brevin Knight

I always thought that Watson was good, but why start him over Troy Bell? Is he really that good? Apparently West loves the way Watson plays and will keep him there through most of the season, so my real question is, why even draft Bell? Why not draft a Center or Power Forward that can get playing time?

Watson is 6-0, but he can leap with the best of them. He dunked on Shaq once. It made ESPN's #2 play of the day.

Dallas is the only team that I have yet to see play live. [IMG]

There is not much room in there for someone to come over from point guard and play shooting guard.

I think that they should trade Bell because he has more trade value, but he is worse than Watson at the same time.

I think Troy Bell is probably better then Watson. Another thing about watson, he through up some nice passes to dmase in the dunk comp.

I may be the only one here who thinks this, but I believe Watson is better than Bell. Watson is one of the ten most underrated players in the league in my opinion.

Well, I just went on the Grizzlies website and they have a pretty big advertisement up for season tickets. It features the rookies, Gasol, Battier, Wright, Watson, and J.Williams. It suprised me that Watson was on there instead of Person, Swift, Miller, or Dickerson. It is little things like this that convince me West is set on having Watson as the Grizzlie's sixth man figure.

jerry west must have a trade set up. it makes no sense going into the season with a log jam at both frontcourt spots. he's probably waiting to see how the free agency signings go, and will waive jason williams to one of the teams who misses out on arenas, speedy, payton, and kidd.

i could see jason williams & swift traded to golden state for jamison. the warriors need a pg because arenas is likely gone, and they need to make room for dunleavy.

    Warriors Roster
    ---------
    PG - Jason Williams
    SG - Jason Richardson
    SF - Mike Dunleavy
    PF - Troy Murphy
    C - Erik Dampier

The Warriors will have a strong defensive unit coming off the bench with Pietrus, Swift, Foyle, & Fortson.

    Grizzlies Roster
    -----------
    PG - Watson
    SG - Miller
    SF - Gasol
    PF - Jamison
    C - Wright

Adding Jamison gives the Grizzlies a solid go to scorer and gives them a lot of flexibility. They can play small ball or go with a big lineup. Also Jamison is a big man who plays outside and fills the lane very well. He won't get in Pau Gasol's way in the post and will be another shooter when Gasol gets doubled and has to kick out.

First off, Jamison has played 90% of his professional career at Small Forward and Pau Gasol has played 90% of his career at Power Forward with the other 10% being at Center. So why would Gasol be playing Small Forward, a position he isn't familiar with, just so Jamison can play Power Forward? I also don't think it is fair. Right now Jason Williams is second in the league in assists and Stromile Swift is our backup Center who has all the potential in the world to start. The trade just doesn't make sense. We would have to move Miller to Shooting Guard, thus crowding the backcourt just as much as it was before, and this time starting somone out of position at SG. We would also have Earl Watson running our team. That starting lineup makes me cringe.

i still stand by the trade. the grizzlies are in need of another star forward. jason williams doesn't really fit what west is trying to build and drafting 2 guards is a strong indication the grizzlies are going to dangle williams.

swift is decent, but with lo wright and gasol there really isn't much need for him and they are likely to lose him to free agency anyways.

gasol can be switched to PF and jamison to SF that really doesn't matter. gasol might even be able to play some center if he bulks up and gets more aggressive.

as for mike miller he could be their 6th man backing up jamison and either battier, jones, person or demarr could play the SG spot.

i think jamison would thrive in memphis's offense and he gives them a consistent 2nd scoring option.

Jason Williams starting job as a PG is far from certain. He and Hubie Brown seemed to get along, but Williams is on a short leash and he knows it. Memphis can't afford to have Williams regress to his turn-over prone, ways and he still jacks it up too much.

Remember, Jerry West didn't give Boston the 13th overall pick so that he could bury a couple of guys on the bench...Hubie Brown will find a way to get both Jones and Bell minutes.
