yes, it's true that their percentage will go down, but why should walker waste time missing 3's if he can take a higher percentage shot in the paint? his great post moves are going to waste
he does take too many threes but its just not as too many as most people say, not the way the team is structured. Jim Obrien has decided that his best chnace with the player he has is to shoot and make threes becuase they arent great offensive players for driving to the basket or dealing with inside defense but they can shoot the three. walker and pierce do both and walker does get things don down low its not as rare as people like to say. there are games where he doesnt shoot many threes but sometimes he shoots a ton. they dont see it as wasting his time. like i said theyre built on getting defensive stops to get as many chances as they need to hit. walker can hit almost as good as anyone. i dont care what anyone says hes a decent three shooter. he misss the open one sometimes but he hits some that no ones ever hit before. sometimes it seems like he has to take the worst shot youve ever seen to hit it (even in the video games....creepy). hes not a superstar IF youre standard of a superstar is up with Shaq and Jordan than HELLZ no. but i guess im more of a simpler man. I think anyone whos ever played a game in the NBA is pretty damn big success. If you have a lot of great games and maybe make an all star team youre a star. if youre making all star teams a nimber of times and leading your franchise especially if its a playoff or playoff series winning team and youre on espn and t shirts allllll the time well congratulations buddy youre a superstar(i mean come on. walker def has a shot at the hall of fame if he stays strong a while. hes only a year older than pierce). I think the Kobes and the Pierces are something else. i just think of them as the elite of the league and guys like jordan and shaq are sports legends. And you are looking at walkers numbers wrong. Walker had an off year. im not making an excuse. it happens. so did Pierce. they both shot career lows in fg and 3fg (almost, walker shot 9 points lower his second year). you think theyre both going to do that again next year? His last few years have been more like 23 and 8...and 5. I think those are superstar type numbers especially with his leadership on and off the court and a tripple double or wiggle worthy basket here and there. walker has specific instructions to get in the best shape of his life this summer and he is a serious player with a lot of intensity and heart (and a new million dollar personal trainer allegedly bout time). perhaps coach obrien will have him not shoot as many 3s next year with JR bremer hopefully geting more shoots out there along with the other regularas while they try to devlope some sort of fsat break game with banks walker pierce and kedrick brown. maybe not. it doesnt really matter. Walker will still end up the all star co-captain of a playoff NBA franchise
Next time do that in pragraphs...but you clearly have a different view on what a superstar is....no problem..i respect everyone opinion.....and it is clear you won't change your mind on this..
there i changed it. but forget the superstar thing. you are looking his numbers wrong to avoid giving him just credit. 20 and 7 and under 40% is such a crappy simplification.he had a lousy year but ill give u the benefit of the doubt. he still had 20 7 and 5. most power forwards cant get that kind of passing done all year. how many other power forwards had 14 assists in a game this year. hell how many of them had a tripple double. a big part of walkers value is his versatility. other teams know that even if they dont have a place for a big salary power forward right now. even if they arent pounding ainges door u can bet that theyre gonna have their eye on walker as the off season goes on and the season gets rolling
Look, Olskool, you overrate Toine just a bit, and allnet you underrate him a lot. http://aol.nba.com/playerfile/antoine_walk...ayer_files.html If all these Antoine haters were to actually watch a game when the Celtics played a team that didn't have the best defensive PF in the East, maybe you would understand what he brings to the Celtics. He played the most minutes in the league before getting hurt. He also is a very underrated as a defensive rebounder and ranks 16th in the league in defensive rebounds. Although he takes a lot of shots he also is willing to give up the ball and gets a lot of assists for a PF. Walker is also steps up big in big situations. Walker is the emotional leader of the team and Pierce turns to him in big situations(ECF when the Celts came back from 20 points int he 4th) I think its funny how last year at this time nobody was saying how Walker sucks and how he hurts the team and isn't a star. Olskool brought up a good point, every year the players and coaches who know a lot more about basketball than any of us vote him into the Allstar game. No, Walker isn't a superstar but heis one of the top 20-30 players in the league.
how am i overrating him. clearly i have a different definition of superstar than you guys but im not acting like hes better than he is. the diffenerence between me and allnet is i konw walkers faults and areas he needs imporvement but i also give him credit for being one of the 15-25 best players in the game like you say
they should just keep walker...u cant trade him for one bad season! remember the year b4? they were 2 wins away from the NBA finals! they couldnt have done it without toine

You should probably just start a new thread instead of going for an old one. I know there have been some posts about Walker between this one and today. (closed.)
