I picked up Lindy's with the (Ugh!) Michael Vick cover. Sunday Ticket offered me an opportunity to buy Athlon online and pay only the shipping charge. I got to pick my cover (You know it's The Priest baby!).

    www.athlonsports.com

They have a deal right now where you can pre-order the 2005 issue for 3.99 (6.99 retail) and free shipping. You get to choose your cover and it will be delivered before the rag hits the newsstands next year. I pre-ordered (could you tell?).

Even if you aren't ordering you can zoom in and sneak a peek at your teams regional cover. (this years cover, of course)

what magazine is this? never heard of it is it good?

i usually stick to SI, then buy ESPN or PRo Football from the newsstands for the preseason picks.

I usually buy Athlon and Lindy's Pro Football annuals. They come out early and miss some of the free agency movement, but I am so hungry for football by June, that I always buy them anyway. I sometimes check out the ESPN magazine. My favorite was NFL Insider, but they quit making it about halfway through last season. It was part of the deal when you subscribed to Sunday Ticket, but I just quit getting issues. That kind of stunk. I was subscribed to it (8 issues a year) before I got ST. Before it was Insider it was called Kickoff(whatever year it was).

Easy there kcgsc... It's June and you're still riding that high. You act like Joe Horn in the end zone... maybe you should act like you've been there and show some class.... [IMG]

(That's what us bitter losers say to pain's in butt like you who win it all.)

I picked up my first fantasy football mag and wasn't all that impressed. The title is even escaping me right now. It was interesting to finally start reading about it, but it felt pretty generic. My copy of Fantasy Football Index should arrive by Tuesday or Wednesday, and I think this is officically the last year I'm ordering it if it sucks.

Any other suggestions as to what the absolute best magazines for fantasy football are?

Hey SF, You need to quit buying those fantasy sheets out of the street vendor's trenchcoat. A good rule of thumb...If it's handwritten on notebook paper...skip it and find something better! [IMG]

    Sf,

The best magizines i used for years since fantasy football are profootball weekly and street and smith's. There use to be a magizine called blitz but i cant find it anywhere anymore. I keep hearing lindys is good tho ive never heard of them. I myself will check out that mag when i see it. I use my magizines for mark off sheets anyways. I try to memorize the teams bye weeks in my head before the season starts, so i have a advantage come draft day when i pick. Hopefully these mags help ya out, if you havent already looked at them.

The on I bought last week kinda sucks. lol What can u expect for $5.99 right? What can't figure out s why does most publications have Hasselbeck rated as the 3rd best QB for fantasy leaguers? Clearly this is a poor year for QBs, Which is why IMO the value of Manning & CPepp should be as a high as ever.

lol Yep that's the one. Who cares if Meat Loaf does fantasy baseball? lol Last year I had Grogan's & TSN. I'm on a bit of a budget right now. BTW SF if you go to the article "20 Questions" & read the answer to #3 closely it's quite comical.

EX. I beleive it was 2001 or 2002 they ranked Amani Toomer as the #30 WR. Please these people who do this junk are a joke. Another Football magazine i bought said that the Clevelend Browns were goin to win the superbowl!!!!!!!!!!

B40ET - Lindy's isn't a fantasy mag. Just a pro football season preview mag. I do not buy fantasy magazines and prefer to let my gut and player availability dictate my draft order. All the preview mags have a draft sheet for FFB in them somewhere though. You can find 10,001 cheat sheets online anyway. They will all be hit and miss. I promise!

I picked up The Sporting New and Pro Football Weekly's annuals today. The SN has better photos and is a slicker publication overall (Champ Bailey cover), but PFW has lots of good info. I just hate the b&w newsprint quality they print it on. (Ray Lewis & Brunell cover).

I got my FFI yesterday in the mail. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but I'll let you know. Santana Moss at #3 surprised me.... Rod Smith at #4 surprised me as well...

I agreed with the Moss point in the Jets forum. Rod Smith is a reach too. Maybe the writers are thinking McCaffery's retirement will mean more balls for Smith? What the Broncos need is for Lelie to step up.

They are saying with the retirement of Sharpe & McCaffrey that Smith will be the main beneficiary of more catches.... I think Plummer stinks (Don't tell td4td or gogo!) and Smith will be lucky to be top 20 this season.

Yeah, it doesn't work that way though. When you have superstars leave your team, that allows opposing defenses to focus more on you. Now defenses know that they can focus solely on Smith until other players step up.

I picked up Lindy's today and they have really added some fantasy depth to their football predictions... I like it.
