Gonzalez says people will be impressed with how much Gunther is getting out of our current defensive personnel. He also says Boerigter is primed to forget his "sophomore jinx" and have a breakout season. Personally, I'd be more happy to see Morton lower his number of dropped balls. Ahhh! I'm starting to see the world through my "Chief-colored" glasses once again. It must be almost time for football! Super Bowl here we come!
Good thing Tony G is impressed with the defensive coaching. Maybe someday when Tony is a coach his opinion will matter.... As for those "Chief-colored" glasses, just be careful that some big guy doesn't come by and knock them right off your Red & White painted face... especially someone in Black & Gold.... Oh it's fun to razzzzz....
I'll never forget that yellow stripe comment that I read a year ago when we first met you KC. Classic. We shall see how much Gunther can help this group. I don't see a Derrick Thomas here. #58 was the guy you had to game plan around. I don't see anybody on the Chiefs roster like that now. I'm feeling confident that Shwan Barber will not cross Robert Gallery the way he did Barry Sims last year.
It's all those young DLs we will be counting on. Fresh legs through rotation. At least Gunther will send the blitz all day instead of waiting and reacting to the play the way Robinson's sorry schemes did. I look forward to Christmas already. I think Gallery will be a stud. That Groves you got from VA Tech is going to be awesome too. I think he was a little under valued in the draft. We do need a Blue chip D guy. The loss of Thomas really rocked our defense. Fujita might step up in time, but no one on the current roster compares to DT in my book.
You can't just replace a player like DT. Those type of players only come along every couple of years and have to find their way to your team. The better you are, the harder it is to get that kind of talent. The AFC West might not be the best division in football, but it's not without it's drama. I will be keeping an eye on those big division games all season. I think Denver is a bit overrated, so I'd like to see the division have their way with them. (Of course that is if they can!)
Overated? You're just jealous SF because Denver players are rated higher than Pittsburgh's in alot of fantasy football rankings...lol Any defensive units not coached by Robinson are already head and shoulders better no matter who you have on defense.
A lot of mags and sports reporters are picking Denver to go deep in the playoffs.... I'm not so sure I agree. But I'm not the expert, so I guess we'll see. As for being jealous, of course I am. I would love to see the Steelers be rated higher. Hopefully they will earn the right to be back on top after this season.
I think the Steelers will be better than most people give them credit. Experts tend to look where they shouldn't be looking just so they can have something to write about. The Chiefs are the best team in the AFC West right now, but if the Broncos only question mark is running back and that somehow gets addressed in camp, than why not agree that can go deep in the playoffs? Like you said, we'll have to wait and see, but I am excited about the year.
The one ingredient that I think will surprise for Denver is the defense. They could be scary good this year. But no Sharpe, no McCaffrey, no Portis really makes their offense interesting. And on top of that, I'm not a big believer in Jake Plummer. Should be interesting though, Denver always finds away to have one of the best running games in the league.
I think it's hysterical that the two guys in this thread who have suffered through Greg Robinson have both ripped him already. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Chiefs are the best team in the AFC West right now</div> That means alot coming from you TD. We have to keep our eyes on those pesky Raiders still. I have learned to never count them out (although another down year wouldn't hurt my feelings any...)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (kcgsc)</div><div class='quotemain'>That means alot coming from you TD. </div> No prob kcgsc! As for the Raiders, I'll never count them out again. I just can't compliment two different division rivals at one time, it is almost physically impossible for me...LOL Anyways, I like what the Raiders are doing this off season with players, but I just don't have a good feeling for Norv Turner. Until I see him put a solid season together, I just can't agree with the Raiders decision on hiring him as their new head coach.
They (Oakland) need to stop all the bickering and the "me first" attitude and everything else will fall back into place for them. Last season every article I read had to do with their inner turmoil. I'm not disrespecting your boys either. I remember all too well that you handed us one of our 3 "L"s. The opener is immense for us. We need to beat you guys on the road to start out right and make a statement. I am looking forward to week 1.
The Broncos will find out really quick what they are made of when they meet the Chiefs right out of the gate. Season opening game is going to be awesome.
