Shaquille O'Neal, in Saturday's New York Times, on the Laker additions and what it means in the West: "Last year, I had a couple tanks, a couple grenades. Now I got atomic weapons. I'm going nuclear. I'm Colin Powell, and I can drop the bomb any time I want to.

"I'm not going to talk about Sacramento, because I've been hard on them in the past. But San Antonio's window is shut. That's right, the Diesel is back.

"Hey, they had a great year. It was their turn. Congratulations. That's all right. 'Cause they don't got two 7-footers anymore."

David Robinson retired at the end of the season, leaving Tim Duncan without a true center.

    Puh.

    Lakers vs. Spurs matchups:

C- shaq vs. brad miller/rasho?? LA WINS
pf-malone vs. dinkin SA wins but malone is still great
sf-george vs. ginobilli? Spurs by a hair
sg-kobe vs. bowen? LAKERS BY A LANDSLIDE
pg-payton vs. parker LA WINS BY A HAIR

Spurs can't get a star to sign with them...at best brad miller...lol! Lakers bench is improved and the refs won't screw them over like last year..4 Hall-of-famers...awesome coach..kobe at his best= 2004 LA title [IMG]

Well, actually...Aries Spears (sp?) is a friend of his. It's more of a friend-to-friend kind of joke. Not anything insulting.

I don't see what evryone is getting so excited about. This is barely even considered "trash talk". All he's saying is that the Lakers are much better than they were last season, and that the Spurs roster isn't looking as good as it was last season.

    He isn't saying anything offensive.

Annihilated? If Horry had made a shot he usually makes, Shaq would be holding another trophy right now. Boy, you Spurs fans get cocky after just one good year...

First of all, thank-you Damian. Never thought I'd say that, but he recognizes the Lakers are better.. All the anylists say the Lakeshow is the team to beat, and we are even better. With all the injuries and problems last year and yet to almost beat the Spurs was amazing. We had Brian Shaw starting in game 2 vs. the Spurs..now we have Gary Payton and our worst starter is Devean George, who is fairly athletic himself.

IF horry made that shot, but he didn't make it, so what your saying doesn't make sense. After one good year? actually it was after a great year and its not like wining a championship is so new to the spurs, remember '99?

if horry had made that shot the lakers would have the chance to beat them at home to win the series.... oh wait. they couldnt beat them at home in game 6. they were blown out.

exactly. they were more inclined to win game 6 because horry missed that shot. if he didn't, they probably woulda been more relaxed

everyone else played 50 games that year, it wasn't the spurs' fault the season was shortened, someone had to win, and the better team was the spurs because they won...
