Lindy's annual says Lovie Smith has mandated that every player (and coach) lose 10 pounds before training camp. They stressed that even Urlacher wasn't immune. The idea is to create more team speed so more players will be around the ball on any given play. Lovie said this approach served him well during his stint with the Rams. Any thoughts?
Yeah. We saw how well Speed worked in St Louis. 1 good season. Mind you St Louis wasn't Tampa. It may work in Chicago as Lovie won't have Martz to micro-manage things.
It's always a good idea to have your guys motivated and in shape. Give the guy credit, he's got his work cut out for him. I hate to say it because BF1 might think I'm being too friendly, but Chicago is one of my surprise picks for '04.
I think they will rise or fall on the performance of Grossman. If Grossman pans out, they could find themselves in the playoffs. If he falters, they could be worse than last year. Either way, I like the steps they have taken this year. Lovie has done everything in his power to be sure that O-line won't be his "achille's heel" again this year.
i dont like the idea of an entire team losing weight...yes it may be good for speed...but it might not be healthy
I think this policy will result in the bears giving up less points/yards than any team in the history of the National Football League.

You gotta get these Dawk/Oracle predictions out there before everyone is on the same page as you come camp time. I'm not sure they will be able to outsmart Quincy in the NFC Championship game though. Seriously, I think players have generally come into camp the last few years in worse shape and a little overweight. I think if you get your weight under control before the pads go on, the chances of injury are less. I think its a good move for the Bears.

Quincy in the NFC C'ship? What's next? Feidler in the AFC title game? ha ha ha ha ha.?? Please someone remove the nitrous mask before I puke or something.

Just having a little fun playing BF1's game. Try it.....Fiedler will throw 10 TD passes this year of over 40 yards.

I think what you mean is Jay F will throw 10 passes that are intercepted & returned 40 yds or more for a TD. Then, we move on to week 2.
I'll play it..... How bout The giants will win the superbowl this season over the chargers...First ever rookie QB showdown between Eli and Philip. NYG 31 SD 21 MVP ELI hahahahahahhahaha
Don't let me get involved. Whatever I say, the opposite will happen. After last season my prediction of the Panthers having no chance of being in the Superbowl, I need to watch my predictions.
Yes you do SF and I have warned you about that in the pats forum already....I don't need you jinxin my pats.
Yes, that's the one, I'm absolutely certain that the Pats will repeat and win yet another Superbowl. DOH!
Haha, lets all pick on bearsfan, lol, bears were number 7 in yards allowed defensively, i dont see how adding a lot of talent to the defense in the draft and coming to camp in better shape and faster is going to make them worse. I also cant see how the offense which had like 4 games with 200 yards or more passing can be worse. So the defense plays better offense stays on field longer and bada bing bada boom, greatest defense in history of league, they beat patriots 46-10 in super bowl XX, errr XXIX
I didn't realize that the Bears were 7th in yards against. That's not too shabby. I keep expecting the Bears to bounce back from their 13-3 season just a few years ago. Will this be the year? What do you think of Lovie Smith BF1?
i think so, i expect the bears to have a pretty good season, and if they miss the playoffs, its gonna be a one game shy thing... theyre gonna be above .500, i can guarantee it.
well the bears missed playoffs by one game last year, if they had beat packers one game last year they would have hosted a playoff game i believe(might have been 2, but pretty sure just 1) I just dont see any way that they dont finish first in this division. Minnesota will start hot and choke, it is their MO, green bay missed the window and are not nearly as good. Detroit, well, if detroit makes it to game it has been good week.
my theory on this division: Green Bay 11-5 Chicago 9-7 Minnesota 9-7 Detroit 5-11 chicago sweeps series against minnesota and are in the playoffs
Interesting... I tend to agree... I wonder if Minnesota will ever get over the hump. They have tons of talent, they are just still in the early stages of building a defense.
