Taken From Espn.com The father of Sacramento Kings player Keon Clark was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of an acquaintance. John Earl Clark argued with Clarence Cunningham III about a bicycle, then left the apartment complex early Wednesday and later returned with a revolver, prosecutors said. Vermilion County Judge Gordon Stipp denied bond Thursday and set a preliminary hearing for July 31. Clark was held at the Vermilion County jail. Prosecutor Larry Mills said Clark is the father of Keon Clark. Police received a call of shots fired and arrived to find Cunningham lying in the street, detective Larry Thomason said. John Earl Clark called police to the scene, authorities said. Mills said police recovered the revolver used in the shooting. Troy Hanson, director of Kings media relations, said Thursday the team had not discussed the matter with Keon Clark and had no comment. Clark, who went to Danville High, started 11 games for the Kings last season, averaging 6.7 points and 5.6 rebounds. In an unrelated case, Keon Clark faces a Sept. 17 trial date on a domestic battery charge. Prosecutors said he hit a family member Saturday. The 6-foot-11 Clark was arraigned Monday. He pleaded not guilty, posted $300 bail and was ordered by a judge to have no contact with the victim or the victim's residence.
