<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Wizards apparently have extended Arenas, the NBA's most improved player last season, the largest offer of any team -- six years, more than $60 million -- according to two sources familiar with the negotiations. Washington, however, definitely has some competition for his services.

Arenas, 21, met with officials from the Warriors in Southern California today after meeting with the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night. Two sources with knowledge of Arenas's situation also said the Utah Jazz also has extended a multiyear offer to Arenas, who averaged 18.3 points and 6.3 assists last season.

Arenas met with Grunfeld, Wizards Coach Eddie Jordan and assistant coach Phil Hubbard in Los Angeles Monday, then came to Washington on Wednesday night for a two-day tour that included a "red-carpet" recruiting trip to MCI Center and the team's practice facilities.

WOW..60 million? DAMN....i guess they do think this kid is the real deal...most improved player last season..18,4 and 6 guy...only 21...considering the wizards have had no FA come to them...getting him is important even if it does mean overpaying him abit..but he might prove worthy of his money the way he keeps improving

I know Arenas is way younger than those others were, but haven't the Wiz learned from overpaying for players way too early in their career? Rod Strickland, and Juwan Howard should be enough for the Wiz to learn not to give up this much money this soon.

The wiz need him. They also should trade stackhouse for Rasheed Wallace

Why? They got Haywood and Brown in the frontcourt already. That's good enough. Getting 'Sheed will only hinder Brown's progress even more.

They already traded sheed once..and why trade stack? one sub-par season and he is a bad player? him and Arenas in the back-up will be fun to watch....will also give teams problems

Especially with their height. I've mentioned this a couple times on the board already, the Wiz can put out one of the tallest teams in the East. And it's not like those players are stiffs either, they have talent.

Arenas is a nice fit in Washington, eventhough he will hold back the Dixon & Blake duo. I hope Arenas stays on the West Coast and re-signs with the Warriors. It will be hard to turn down that type of money, I don't think anyone else is going to throw that type of money at him, except for maybe another team who likes to overpay, Miami.

Jarvis Hayes is the real deal. The way he is playing reminds me of how VC took on the league his rookie season. Hayes has a better jumpshot, but he doesn't hold anything back when he takes it to the rim.
