<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Raptors21:</div><div class="quote_post">When Allen Houston hit a runner to beat the heat out in the playoffs.</div> Anything from the 98-99 knicks run to the finals.. the first year sprewell was aquired they were the first team in nba history to make it to the finals as the 8th seed.. each series featured some spectacular basketball(miami, atlanta, indiana, san antonio) as the under dogs faught so hard with passion and just came up short in the finals against the spurs. Also the season after in 99-00 round one game 2 knicks vs raptors where spree buried the game winner in a one on one isolation in the face of vince carter and wen't on to win the series.. man it's been a while since the knicks have had some good moments to cheer about.
whatever espn classic magic vs. bird appears on television. that was the greatest series ever eeeeeeeeeevver ever. but of more recent time, lakers vs. rockets last year when they went to OT, kobe over yao. and when the lakers had to come back in game 7 a couple years ago vs. sacramento in the western conference finals. and in 1999 when uconn "upset" duke for the national championship. best game this year was probably uconn vs. unc.. with okafor blocking samuels dunk straight on.. and coming back in the second half to lose w/ 6 seconds left!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting txuonline:</div><div class="quote_post">1998 nba finals game 6--michael jordan wins the championships with a shot </div> That's it right there. Vintage Money. Although Jordan's 63 pts he hung up on the Celtics in '86 was amazing to watch too. The guy seemed like he never missed in that game, hitting shots over every classic greenie, including Larry Legend(almost broke Bird's ankles).
Whole series. 94' Nuggets/Sonics First 8th seed to beat a number one, talk about emotion, that Sonic team was a 60 win team for a few years there, got beat by a bunch of kids. I loved it.
Game one of the 2001 Finals... Lakers/Sixers Also, there's one I attended last season where the Sixers were down the whole game against Indiana and came back to win it.
X-mas day Magic vs Cavs was off the hook...Tmac had 41 pts and 11 assists..and the 2nd game between them two T-Mac had 34 pts in the first half! but he got injured in the 3rd quater so left the game with 36 pts..I thought he was going for over 69 pts.(again against the cavs lol) like MJ back then.
not to seem like a jerk....but i think that all of the "down to the wire" timberwolves games this season have been absolutely amazing. i liked watching lebron james in his first NBA game and there have been other games here and there that i have really enjoyed watching....but off of the top of my head thats all i can remember.
Out of all the great Laker momments that I've seen, and been told of, I have to admitt, the 2002 finals when Robert Horry hit the GW 3 at the buzzer which capped a 24 point comeback in game 4, was the greatest feeling in the world. There has been no Laker momment that felt better than that one. I remember every little thing about that game, Laker fans wanted that 3-peat badly, and Horry put us back into the series to avoid a 3-1 hole.
1883 Nuggets vs. Pistons. Final score: Detroit 186 - Denver 184 3OT. Highest scoring game in NBA history. It was tied in the 140s at the end of regulation. I watched it on Classic about a month ago, it was amazing.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting redscoon:</div><div class="quote_post">1883 Nuggets vs. Pistons. </div> Wow, that game is reaaaally classic, only a few years after the civil war . jp, i know what u mean. Yea, i saw that game on classics also...it was pretty amazing...its was a trackmeet ...
Gotta be game one of the 2001 NBA Finals,Sixers snapped the Lakers 19 game winning streak (including the regular season) and showed that they stand a chance but as we all know the Lakers went on to win the series, still that game was impressive. Also '93 Finals game 3 or 4 was great where MJ had over 50 points
The 6th game of the Bulls Jazz finals. The game wasn't too spectacular but the ending was picture perfect. Bulls down by 4 I believe, and Jordan gets the steal on Malone and hits the shot. Bulls down by two. Jordan has the game in his hands and has an isolation against Bryon Russell and gets perhaps the greatest non-call in the history of the NBA by pushing off Bryon Russell and crossing over to his left for the open shot.....swish. Bulls win and Jordan is considered a legend for leaving the game at the top of his game. Then he comes back and to help sell the wiz and gets fired for it. The End
Some of the best game I've seen is Lakers-Pacers Finals 2000 Game 4 when Shaq fouled out in OT and Kobe told Big, "I got it" and scored 8 consecutive points in that period (of his 28) to win the game! Also the WCF 2001 Lakers-Spurs Game 1 when Kob single-handedly won the game (48 pts) for the Lakes at Alamodome, prompting Big to say, "the damn best player in the L" ... Game 2 of that series was not far behind, when The Lakes were down by 16, coach Phil got two Ts and thrown out of the game in the 3rd period, and the team just regrouped and put it all together in the last quarter, storm back and win the game.
well i basically like games then end in last minute shots... so maybe i'll have to vote on likign the kings/ lakers series... i loved that drama.. .we need more of that, just as long as it isnt commercialized or seems fixed
I wish I would have been at this game: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">NBA's Greatest Moments The Greatest Game Ever? John Havlicek's running bank shot appeared to give Boston the win late in the second overtime, but Gar Heard sent Game 5 to a third OT. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was a game that many call the greatest ever. Former Hall of Fame player Rick Barry, who broadcast the game, called it "the most exciting basketball game I've ever seen," and anyone fortunate enough to be in Boston Garden on Friday night, June 4, 1976, would likely agree. It was Game 5 of the NBA Finals, a series that was tied 2-2 between the tradition-steeped Boston Celtics and the upstart Phoenix Suns, a team born out of expansion less than a decade earlier. The game went three overtimes, the first Finals game ever to last that long, and had enough thrills, twists, and turns for a whole series. There was an unacknowledged timeout at the end of the first overtime that, had it been granted to Boston's Paul Silas, would have resulted in a technical foul and given the Suns a chance to win the game. But referee Richie Powers chose to ignore the signal, and the teams played on. In the second overtime, Phoenix grabbed a one-point lead with four seconds left but Boston's John Havlicek raced the length of the floor and scored on a 15-foot bank shot that brought hundreds of Celtics fans pouring onto the fabled parquet. After order was restored, the officials put one second back on the clock and prepared to give Phoenix the ball. That's when the Suns' Paul Westphal asked for, and received, a timeout he knew his team did not have. The strategey resulted in a technical foul, which stretched Boston's lead to two points, but it enabled the Suns to make the inbounds pass from midcourt. Gar Heard caught the ensuing pass, turned and sank a jumper at the buzzer to send the game into its third overtime, stunning and nearly silencing the Garden faithful. With key players on both teams having fouled out, it was a seldom-used reserve, Glenn McDonald, who rose to the occasion for the Celtics. He scored six points in the third OT to lead Boston to an exhausting 128-126 win. Two days later, the Celtics beat the Suns 87-80 in Phoenix to wrap up their 13th NBA championship. </div>
* The Suns/Celtics 1976 Finals has already been mentioned. Before my time, but ive seen the clips and it was a great game. Im going to go with the game that mirrored that one... 1993 Finals Game 3: Suns Vs Bulls Triple overtime. Phoenix wins. That gamed seemed to last all damn night. Ive never seen more last second 3pt shots to tie.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting kvh4fan:</div><div class="quote_post">Game one of the 2001 Finals... Lakers/Sixers</div> Didn't like the entire series, eh? I'll take '86 when Jordan dropped 63 points in the Garden against Bird and the Celtics. That was probably one of the greatest NBA games ever played. The Celtics won that game in double OT, and went on to sweep the Bulls. I think thats when Jordan officially made his mark. I'll never forget Larry Bird's quote after the game. "I think it's just God disguised as Michael Jordan."
