I think Pierce should get it but Id worry theyd end up making him carry the team like they did in the world schampionships last summer and he'd have another fatiqued subpar year
vince is undeserving eventhough he provides plenty of highlights. they should add KG to this team. pierce, marion, & marbury are also candidates to consider over VC.
KG was invited, but didn't want to go. having him on the team would make it complete.. it wouldnt matter if kobe was gone. Pierce should be given the spot over VC, and hopefully Team USA won't rely on him as much.
the reason pierce wasnt even considered for the olympic qualifying team was mainly because of his performance in the world championships last summer. apparently, pierce played selfishly, hogging the ball, and he had issues with the other players. so.. yeah even though he's probably the best player behind kobe, he's not the best in this situation.
Vince played good the last Olympics, lets see how he does... I think Vince does deserve it over PP, Vince hashad experience playing with Team USA.
like I said... KG doesnt want to give up his summers... for the USA team, or anything for that matter....
i dont know... he just cherishes his time away from being constantly bothered by media and the little time he has off ... last year he actually showed up early for camp because of the unfair critisim he recieved...
yeah i reckon VC was a good choice i reckon its a given that Team USA are going to get one of the qualifying spots! the goal i reckon is to entertain the crowds and vince is definately a crowd pleaser i mean, wouldnt you want to see another "over a 7 footer" dunk from vince?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Truemaster14:</div><div class="quote_post">I dont think vince can do that anymore.</div> youve seen enough of vince play to make that assumption? he threw it down on tim duncans face this past season...suddenly since then hes got no hops?

I have all the games shown on TV (which was all but one I believe) and he was hogging the ball a bit (Pierce as a person is cool though, got an autograph from him before the game). He wasn't the only one that wanted to win, Finley was producing and Shawn Marion (until he got hurt) was doing a great job. I think the lack of a real interior presence on the offensive end did the World Championship team in more than than anything.
I'm sorry but Peirce was NOT hogging the ball. Finley had moments of brilliance but only peierce was giving his all the entire time. he deserves to be commended not scolded

I added up FTA and FGA through the tourny and Pierce led the team with 169 total shots. The next highest was Finley with 116. How can anyone else try to get in the game with differences like that?
because pierce NEEDED to take those shots. even finley wasnt putting up his best efforts. Pierce was fighting by himself. he tried his best to get the other guys involved but admit it. he was the only one who looked like he cared the whole time. why would he want to hog the ball if he didnt have to. all it did was tire him out and lead to an off season
KG carries a bigger workload than probly any other player, let the guy have his summers off. as for the spot they've obviously picked vince to draw the crowds, but i'd like to see a young up and comer like marion, dmase or shard lews get the spot (already 2 sonics on the roster tho with collison being drafted) ... they did it with RJ and they have enough experience there, give the spot to another young guy
