Jumaine Jones traded to celtics!! http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/story?id=1586645 <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Cleveland Cavaliers say they have agreed to a three-player trade with the Boston Celtics. Team spokesman Tad Carter said tonight that Cleveland plans to send swingman Jumaine Jones to the Boston for guard J.R. Bremer and center Bruno Sundov. Carter says an announcement planned for Monday night was postponed because there wasn't enough time to have the trade paperwork filed with the league. Both teams plan to make it official tomorrow. Jones is a 6-foot-8 forward who averaged nearly 10 points and just over five rebounds in his second season with Cleveland. Sundov, a 7-2 Croatian, played just over five minutes with the Celtics last season. A six-foot-two undrafted rookie, Bremer -- who's from Cleveland -- averaged four-point-seven points and just over one rebound last season. </div> Good trade for boston...
^^they have marcus banks & tony delk to run the point. the celtics must be impressed enough with banks to pull off this trade. jumaine jones will help, but he is going to fight for minutes with walker & mccarty and i'm not sure if he is going to help them as much as bremer would.
kenny anderson is still a free agent, maybe the celtics have the inside track on him. and eventhough delk is not a true pg, he still plays the position and either pp or 'toine bring the ball up when he's in the lineup.
celtics already signed heat PG..mike james...so there was no need for 3 PG's...getting rid of bremer was an ok move..but he was a rookie and did well..so it could be a risk
Bremer would not have been nearly as big a risk as any of Banks, Mike James or Tony Delk..... They are absolutely sky high on Banks however, but no matter how good he is, he still needs to make a big time adjustment from the MWC to the League. I really don't see how a 40-something win team like the Celtics can improve by relying on a rookie PG. I wouldn't be surprised if they signed a veteran PG like Kenny Anderson. I know they signed James but that doesn't mean he won't spend most of the year on the IR with a string of phantom injuries. Remember he is more of a combo guard in the mold of Tony Delk as well. Plus he's 28 years old and doesn't have much upside. In short he's nice body to have around if someone goes down with a real injury but the Celtics will be a better team if they add a veteran PG with one of their exceptions. And as far as I'm concerned there's never a good reason not to improve your team if you have the chance.
jj fits the celtics perfectly, a perimeter orientated swingman. now all they need is raef lafrentz at centre and they'll be set...
