Posey Signed An Offer Sheet on July 23rd and the Rockets were given fifteen days to match it or leave it. There is now only about nine days left for the Rockets to step up and match the offer. I really hope that the Grizzlies get Posey! [IMG]

He will start at SG. And Miller has always been our SF. Our starting SG all of last year was Wesley Person.

If they were in the East then they would be a number four seed.

You are overrating the East. Are you saying that a team which has a chance to be the number eight seed in the West can't have a chance to be the number three or four seed in the East?

Since when do grizzles have a chance at 8th seed in the west? they don't..they are still behind the pack of rockets,suns,sonics,warriors...and maybe nuggets...who are looking good so far..no way am i overrating the east..memphis simple aren't good enough to be 4th seed even in the east

They are better than the Magic. They are better than the Sixers. They are better than the Celtics.

sportsrock will argue his case with magic i'm sure..better than celtics? nah sixers? nah...grizzles still need another scorer to be a force..even in the east....just because a team can get 25 wins or so in the west does't mean they are a top 4 east team....the east isn't complely hopless...

Posey was never going to be retained. As much as many of you are probably getting tired of me saying this, it deals with the luxury cap. And I know some of you could give a crap less about it(since you aren't the ones paying it.......as someone eloquently pointed out to me)....

    But here it goes anyway.

Houston is a small market team. Resigning Posey would have put them in the L.T. area, forcing them to pay it, dollar for dollar over the threshold. That also means they wont get compensation BACK from the NBA for being below it. NBA teams get money back from the NBA if they stay below the LT area. So Houston stood to lose anywhere from 10-15 million dollars if they kept Posey. Now is Posey worth that? Nope. Houston was much better off letting Posey go, and signing Pike.

Now, they wont go after Jackson either.........for the same reasons they let Posey go. Paying Jackson the MLE pushes them over the Luxury Tax threshold as well. No way Houston does that for Jackson either(the difference between Posey and Jackson isn't all that much).

    So Houston's offseason is done.......

Now where does Jackson go? Denver and Utah have the cap room. But Denver already has plenty of good wing players in Hapring, Kirilenko, and Pavlovic(future). Denver could use someone to start opposite Carmelo(And Jackson is an upgrade over White)....

The Clippers still have cap room.........but would they really want to lock up another wing player, when they have to deal with Richardson soon?

Otherwise, Jackson will start to look at the MLE from teams.....
