    Celtis need a CENTER

Forget about who will play the 3 spot....the celts have some talent there. What the C's need is an established Center, or they will not be going anywhere, anytime soon. Im from Boston and im saying they wont do anything without an est. center. Tony Battie is a good backup Center, but doesn't cut it as a starter. sure he can jump and block shots, but he is just not big enough. IF the C's want to contend anytime soon...they need a good CENTER

Atleast hes 6'11 and can block shots. Most teams in the east need a center half them are 6'10 or below now.

    celts center

nah but...the C's have a decent PF in toine, SF they have Jones, Ewill(great defense),Walter McCarty either at PF or SF is mr. clutch....PAUL PIERCE, name says it all...they got marcus banks who will be good, they have tony delk who is alright...they have a lot of talent...they jsut need a center, if they had a center they def. would be a top power in the east...

    detroit has big ben
    philly has todd mac
tor raps have antonio davis( if you can even count him)
hawks have ...nazr and theo( two decent centers that r good at what they do )
    Cavs have zydrunas
wiz have haywood..hes gunna be good this year
knicks, magic, miami dont have a good center
neither do the bucks but what do they have????

so most of the team are without centers

Todd Mac no longer can play due to injuries. They have Coleman, Dalemburt at center.....Coleman is actually good for them.

Why wouldn't you? He's still a good player. Who cares if he is 6'9". So is Kurt Thomas of the Knicks........and Thomas is a good player too. Underrated.

Knicks have Kurt Thomas........check his numbers. Considering he is undersized playing the 5, what he did was great. He is very underrated. He is better than any option you currently have. Battie might be a better shotblocker, but Thomas is the better player. And Lampe will receive some time at Center......

Really? What do you call the Hornet's Jamal Magloire? He's a center.
Nets with Jason Collins and Alonzo Mourning?
    Chicago's Eddy Curry?

    Those are true centers.

I think Magloire will be an all star next season. Davis,Thomas,Grant are all 6'9 but do really good at center. Battie might be the worst center in the east. Indi has Pollard now. I think Howard will be playing center and hes 6'9.

    celtics center issues

now that we determined battie is not the best center..we can say the celts will not be able to play as good as they coul against the teams with good centers like LA, San Antonio, ornets teams like that that have centers. Battie is gonna get pushed around inside..

The Celtics need to find a way to steal a good center from a team that isnt ready to contend. Eddy Curry would be perfect and the bulls arent quite ready to make the playoffs

    Celtics and there center

I would love to see Eddy Curry is Boston. I don't think Danny Ainge is going to make more moves this season, especially one like that. That would be nice to have him here. I think Ainge is still looking for PGs. He's not 100% confident with Banks and Delk. He did a good job drafting haywood/perkins/banks and bringing in Jumaine Jones, and also finding a way to keep 6th man walter mccarty, he satisfied with his offseason, so I doubt he will do anything else big

Danny Ainge will alsways be looking to make the team better. Sure he's not satisfied with Banks and Delk. He doesnt know yet none of us do how good Banks will be. The difference is though we know theres a chance he'll be very very good or at least good enough to start in the NBA and run fast breaks. at least they have SOMETHING there to work with. the celtics have NOTHING at center. jack squat. the best they have is Blount and McCarty (battie really isnt that bad but he CANT stay healthy) McCarty and Blount deserve credit for what they do. they have value but theyre nothing as starting NBA centers for a team trying to contend

Right, Danny Ainge is still lookin to improve the team, but He is not going to try and improve at the 5, and yeah..Walter and Blount are top role players for this team. The Celts will be top of the Atlantic, but id give them 4-5 in the East at the end. They need big, and powerful Center. Delk can jump but that's about it. and in my opinion I think Bnaks willge the job done...

battie has impressed me everytime iv seen him play, aside from foul trouble, i think he does a solid job in the middle. they dont have a premier center, but not many teams do...i like battie, i dont see lots of celts games, but everytime i see them play he seems to do a good job. a little undersized for the position, but plays big imo

if he stays healthy, with blount backing him up, the celts dont have too many center worries....could be worse, they could be in the raps position [IMG]

There is no way Chicago would part with Curry........no way. "Stealing" him from Chicago is a joke, bec. Paxson won't trade him. He has come out and said that Curry and Chandler are untouchable.

The only way a deal for Curry would occur potentially is if Boston parted with Pierce. Since that wont happen, Boston wouldn't be able to obtain Curry.

Centers are hard to find. Thats why I think drafting Perkins, even if he turns out to be nothing but a backup, was a solid move. He's a big body, and can help you out with size. He's going to be very raw though.

It might take him 3-5 years to show anything........or he might be nothing but a career backup. Its a gamble, but one Boston was wise IMO to gamble on. What sets Boston back from being one of the elite Eastern Conference Teams is there PG and C position.

Banks looks like he could fill the PG position quite well. But Center is still up in the air.

    Celts need A center

Battie is not bad as what he does, but he is also not what the celtics need...Battie is 10x a better PF then he will ever be a Center. I think the celts r good in the PG pos. for now, but the Center position, I dunno...still doesn't seem 2 good

Perkins is crap but at best he'd be a starting powerforward. too small to be a center even with his 9 foot plus wingspan.

No one is untouchable. it would take a lot to lure Curry from Chicago but I think the celtics could aquire him and a draft pick for antoine walker. walker would be a great fit for chicago. he'd be the experienced leader they need and solidify the power forward position and as always be a killer from the peremeter. but of course this is just a pipe dream because the only way the celtics would trade walker would be if Perkins had shown hes gonna be a damn good starting powerforward which wont happen and if it does it will be years down the line and probably for a nother team. a waste of a draft pick in my opinion unless he becomes the enxt amare or eddy curry [IMG] yea right

No way Chicago would part with Curry AND a draft pick for Walker.

Chicago wouldn't want to lose Curry. He is what they are rebuilding around. I am not being a homer either. There were rumors of a Williams/Marshall/filler for Antoine Walker deal before the draft.

I didn't want that to happen.........somehow pairing up Walker and Rose in the same lineup just doesn't sound to well............who else would get a shot?

I am not dissing Walker.......its just that its much harder to acquire a good center(with a potential to be great) than a very good PF.

I guess but then again if Paxson called ainge today and offered Curry for Walker straight up could he take it without feeling like hes taking a big gamble on getting (ever so slightly) screwed? Curry has loads of potential but he isnt a proven perrenial star like walker. i guess it just depends on which way u look at it and yea its easier to get a great power forward thna it is to get a good center

If Curry gets 30 mpg, and Pippen gets in Rose's face and tells him when he is taking a bad shot, I am going to guess Curry will average 16/7.

Yes, that seems a lot. But he did average 20/7 for the last 2 months. And it wasn't garbage time either, as many teams needed to beat us to improve their standings in the playoff hunt.

The fact of the matter is, in the East, who can really slow him down?

Magloire, Wallace are the best bets IMO, because they have size and athleiticm. But Curry should be able to have his way with most teams next year due to the lack of big men in the East.

Curry has incredible low post scoring skills. Thats not the question. Its his defense. You can knock on his reboundng, but if you watch games, he is always looking to box out and let another teammate(Chandler, Marshall) get the boards.

If Curry boxes out, and it allows another teammate to get the board, thats just as good as if he got the board. So if he averages 7rpg bext year doing this, I wont be overly dissapointed. But if he shows no interest in boxing out or hustling for them, I will be. But he always seems to be boxing someone out when the shot goes up.....

To be honest, I don't think either team would pull the trigger on the deal.....
