Hey y'all, I'm kartmandogg, you can call me kdogg :P
I'm new here! I have love for the game
So who do y'all think is going to win the "Most Improved Player" award??
I think it's going to be VC cuz he's been working harder than ever to get in shape and be ready for next season, a large amount of improvement from last season [IMG]

the MIP award is a nice way of saying "you sucked last season, but you were a whole lot better this season" (example: Gilbert Arenas). VC is already really good and has no chance of winning MIP. Even if he averaged 40ppg, 8rpg, and 8apg- he still won't win it. The MIP award will probably be won by a guy like Kwame Brown, Tyson Chandler, or Eddy Curry who had poor seasons overall, but are very likely to improve next season.

Very well said, perfect. Vince doesn't have a chance to win it no matter what he does.

u r so right. i live in toronto and even though ppl think that it is a hockey place, the fans r wild about basketball. our attendance was one of the highest when we had the 3rd worst team...and every1 is like, "vince carter is good." but they r proven wrong year after year.

aww... [IMG] not true. rofl. My band teacher told me I was the most improved player last year. It doesn't defined you as the most sucky player and then you turn as an OKAY player. It means that you improved a lot more than most ppl. I.e. someone would have the same great avgs, or bad avgs for several years already...on the other you've improved. So that's the big ups. :P  lol.

Kwame Brown will definetely be a MIP. He was pretty good last season, and he'll turnout for a better year without Jordan.

    I know, I know........I am a homer....

But I believe it will be Eddy Curry, Al Harrington, or Emanuel Ginobili.

My frontrunner is Curry. He will be given 30+mpg as a starter next year. He averaged over 30 mpg in the last month. As a result, he averaged 20/7 over that time. He will be a leading candidate, as a result.

Harrington was on his way to winning it until he tore his ACL. He will be back, and should get more PT since Miller is now gone(and JO will receive some more PT at C, as a result, with Harrington at PF).

Ginobili will be starting this year, now that Jackson is gone. He is a flat out playmaker, and should have a great year. He will need to, as he is a FA this season, and it would be in his best financial interests to have a huge season.

Curry is a good pick. Look out also for one of the young guys in memphis like battier or williams.

    Marshall? Huh?

He averaged 15/9 last year. He wont be starting. How will he improve upon that? Maybe he will be in contention for 6th Man of the year, but no way he gets MIP.

MIP usually go to younger guys who have just had their breakout season. Marshall is a veteran, and his numbers wont improve, and if they do, it wont be by much.

LOL.........nice try in attempting to edit it before someone caught that.... :P

But Williams? Jason? No way. He put up good numbers last year. It will be hard for him to improve upon that.

Battier? He might not even start, or get much PT, with the addition of Posey.

Swift could. Gasol won't, as he is already putting up good numbers.

What you have to look for is generally a young player who didn't get much PT, and figures to get a lot more PT this season.....

I typed marshall cause I was thinking of something else and Battier is young. he will start this year. he averaged a weak 9 and 4 last year but with a great field goal percentage for a G-F. He was really hard to stop when he was on and I think hell become more consistant and put up better numbers than the 14 and 5 numbers he did in his rookie year with another great threepoint percentage

Kwame Brown wil get very good sometime very soon. young celtics Jumaine Jones and Kedrick Brown could also be a sleeper pick for MIP and/or the all defensive team(kedrick brown anyway)
