1. Kenyon Martin (wants to get paid 20million MORE than lamar Odom and has worse career scoring, assist and rebounding average.) 2. Vince Carter (all star starter. didnt play ten games in the first half. doesnt matter how much talen you have if you never play) 3. Latrell Spreewell (hurts his team as much as he helps them. never been an elite player and hes been on teh decline) 4. Glenn Robinson (also hurts his team as much as he helps. not as big a star as he thinks) 5. Kobe Bryant (hes a great GREAT player. hes not the best ever. hes not the best in the league. and hes NOT the best on his team. get over it.) all u people who think Kidd is overrated need to "drink some poison" as shaq would say. He took the NEW JERSEY NETS to the finals twice in a row and counting. without him theyre a last place team

I mean as a VC-fan ill admit hes come off probably the worst season of his career even when he was healthy but that doesnt mean he is overrated... he was never 100% and thats the image you've all got stuck in your head! Hopefully this year he'll be back to 100% and can prove thats hes not all dunks, but the heart of Toronto and he'll hit those jumpers and show those moves we all saw a few years ago

Who cares if Jason Kidd gets 20 pts a game? How about this. 18 ppg + 9 apg 9 apg = 18 pts How about that. Jason Kidd creates 36 points per game. Ben Wallace, people now consider him a top 10 player, it is a joke. He is the best defensive player in the NBA, and Ron Artest is probably the best perimeter defender. Ben Wallace went from underrated to overrated in 2 seasons. Ben Wallace is a joke as an offensive player. And, that is a good team they have, it wasn't all him. They played great defense as a team. He gets 11 defensive rebounds per game. 4 offensive. Thats not even first in the league, Elton Brand is first in the league in offensive rebounds.. Defensive rebounds are the most overrated statistic that there is. Ben Wallace just stands down low, when guys like KG are out on the perimeter sometimes, so think about the rebounds they could of gotten if they were in the right spot. KG already gets 2 rebounds less a game than KG. Donyell Marshall got ONE LESS offensive rebound than Ben Wallace in TEN LESS minutes per game. And about the blocks, he gets a ton of blocks from helping out defensively and blocking his teammates opponent. I love how people automatically question your basketball knowledge when you think a player is overrated.

No you don't. I've seen tons and tons of people that think Ben Wallace is a top 10 player in the NBA. That is ridiculous. Everyone thinks Ben Wallace is Dennis Rodman. Thats not even close, Rodman was a much better player. Ben Wallace is the best defensie player in the NBA. Ok. When the Pistons started doing real good, people started to think Ben Wallace was way better than he really is. He did hold Allen Iverson to 5 points. Ben Wallace also helps out because players think twice about driving the lane, which is what people don't think about. But I do, and I still think he isn't as good as people think. His defense alone doesn't carry the team, it wouldn't carry any team. Ben Wallace being the most overrated player in the NBA is a little much, but I still think he is overrated.

Did a little searching... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Most Overrated MVP Candidate: Ben Wallace Look, I love the guy's defense too, but offensively he makes his team play 4-on-5 every night, so it's a bit rich to suggest that he deserves MVP. Thats a load of rubbish....first off...pistons aren't in the west so who cares where they would finish..2nd whatever person wrote that has to be crazy..as ben wallace was not an MVP Candidate..he was only mentioned because his team was right at the top of the east by getting 50 wins..so clearly he would get some votes for what he did with the pistons...people really need to find out what the word overrated means...as right now some don't know...
Overrated means hyped better than they actually are Rated highly than they deserve gets too much attention ben wallace isn't any of those things... ANYWAYS this is not a ben wallace thread so move on from him i'm trying to fiqure out how someone said spree is overrated
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting allnet:</div><div class="quote_post"> He isn't an offensive player..thats not his style...without ben pistons would be not be near the top of the east..plain and simple...pistons defence is still good..but without him players go down the middle with ease and aren't scared...</div> that is true Ben Wallace isnt a offensive player and he doesnt have to be all the pistons need him to do is stand down low grab them rebounds and then block shots..Which is what he does the best and he is the best in the league at doing that..You dont always needs to score to be a great player..
I'd also agree with Spree being overrated. He's a very good player, but the fans give him too much credit. He's a slightly above average defender, but he's definitely lost a step or two. His outside shot is solid, but his poor shot selection really hurts his offensive game. He shot 37.9% from 3pt range last year but only 40.3% overall, and its easy to see that he has a problem with forcing up bad shots when I watch him play. Putting up about 16-18 with a poor FG% on a bad team reminds me of Juwan Howard. His ability to play in transistion, good passing skills and a serious competitive spirit make him a good player, but not as good as the fans and media give him credit for and he is a few years past his prime. The bottom line is that he is a decent defender who makes for a decent 2nd option on offense, but would probably be better as a third option at this point in his career. His passing ability combined with his improved outside stroke means he can really help your team so long as he keeps his shot selection under control. If the real reason for him taking bad shots in New York was because there was no better option and he reels himself in a bit in Minnesota he will be a key guy in their playoff drive. However, if Spreewell turns out to be the Twolve's 2nd best player, they won't be good enough to get out of the first round.
Spree had a bad year last year. He is definately out of his prime and on the Timberwolves team I don't know what option he will be KG, Wally, and Cassell there. And I disagree with that if he is the TWolves second best player that they won't make it out of the first round. All he will need to do next year is probably play good defense, and score 16 PPG. With Cassell and Wally, they could be 15 ppg players, and the team will be real balanced.
STC Bball- They will be very balanced if Cassel, Wally and Spree all averaged 15+ per night, but which team do you think they are good enough to beat in a 7 game series, L.A., the Kings, Dallas or the Spurs? I think that unless somebody has a breakout season for the T-Wolves they will be in for another 1st round exit. IMHO, their only hope is to finish as one of the top 3 teams in the West- Which I think would require a good dose of luck, a breakout season by Olowakandi, or Wally Szcerbiak and a clean bill of health all season long.
