Allan Houston got his contract before there was a salary cap. Just like Kevin Garnett and Shaquille O'neal and Jawan Howard. All of them got there money before the cap and that is why there contracts were so lager and now today u can only make about 14 mill a season at max and not 20 mill a season like when they signed there contracts. Next summer a new cba rule will be in place and the max will be set at about 16 mill a season I think but I am not that sure about that so dont take that to the bank.
Houston isnt as overrated as Spree. Im sorry but he's not one of the top 30 in the league. never was ecxept maybe a couple years with golden state. Latrell is past his prime. Not as overrated though as Vince (do I even play basketball anymore?) carter and Kenyon (yea, I SWEAR im worth more than odom, hamilton and brand just take my word for it) Martin
Go to dictionary.com and learn the difference between over rated and over hyped. Then go to nba.com and look at Vince Carters stats and Sprewells and you should be able to see that they are not over rated, but might be over hyped. Then go to justbball.com and post "i should just get over taking jabs at spree and realise i am just as bias towards Antoine Walker" in this thread.
What the hell is your problem? I'm not taking jabs at spree. I usually dont even talk about him but this thread is for the most overrated players and he's one of them. I really dont see much difference between overrated and overhyped. and I am obviously not bias towards walker like u are towards spree. observe "of course you do. TONS of young and casual basketball fans do. even some hardcore basketball fans don't understand antoine walkers value. its gotten to the point where so many people talk about how overrated he is I begin to think he's actually not getting the credit he deserves. the reason is that he takes too many three's he makes some bad decisions on shot selection and he has a low field goal percentage for a star power forward. But consider this. Walker takes three's because his coaches encourage it. It's made the Celtics a winning team in the last few years and they couldn't have done it without him. I sometimes think walker deserves credit for giving up an impressive percentage to take those threes. 3pters are invariably a lower percentage shot than close shots and walker takes more three's than anyone. If you discount them he would actually have a pretty impressive fg% as if you whatch him over a large span of games you start to realize he has some pretty unique moves down low that are at times unstoppable when he uses them right. He's certainly not the most consistant player with his shooting but he has put up 20 points a game in all but two of his seasons even now that he has become the celtics second option to Pierce. And unlike most power forwards, he has a lot of tools to fall back on when his shot isn't working for him. how many power forwards do you know of that would stop shooting in a game where they wern't on and instead just up and rack 10 boards and 14 assists? people just like to ignore walkers versatility His rebounding numbers have started to decrese because he's gotten out of shape but he's still averaged over 8 and a half a game ove the last few years and thats as a guy who spends most of his time on the peremeter. He's also been instructed by danny ainge to come into the season with "a body like kenyon martin". i dont know if thats possible, but im sure a new million dollar personal trainer will get him as close as he's gonna get. Im not saying he's going to go back to the 22-10 guy he was in his second year but dont act like its the equivalent of bush and saddam doing a "bulletproof"-style buddy pic together. we're not talking about some windbag. how many of you knew that walker is just a year older than Pierce who some of you have said has yet to play his best ball. I think that 20-9-5 with a tripdub or two as usual is a perfectly reasonable expectation from walker this year (unless Marcus banks turns out to be a SERIOUS dish dogg in which case pierce and walkers assist numbers would both likely decrease). I know ive said most of this before. some people often mistake me for being walkers biggest fan. He's not my favorite player. not even one of my top 10. Im as familiar with walkers mistakes as all of you and I complain just as much when he makes them during a game in which Im rooting for the celtics but I also dont think you have to dunk over people to be an exiting player (and I dont care what anyone says the walker wiggle is the best celebration move in the league and at least toine has the class and decency not to bust it out unless he hits a MAJOR shot). You don't have to agree that he's one of the top 25 in the game, but he is an all star and he deserves to be talked about as such at least as much as he's talked about as someone who "SUCKS"." I think that was pretty sensible. no where do I really rely on my opinion of walker which Ive established is not nflated. Everyting dere is fact to my knowledge ecxept predictions for next year in which I proceed with caution only stating that walker will be in better physical shape (which he will be) and SHOULD do at least slighlty better than he did this year
olskool, could you please stop posting the same 2-page essay on A. Walker everytime his name is mentioned by someone else. I think I've got it memorized by now. Anyway, Spreewell is still pretty good and not overrated. No one sees him as a top 30 guy anymore...and he also isn't a bad seed anymore. When I would watch the Knicks (I don't know why either) Spree was always giving his best...even when they were getting blown out. The only people who didn't like Spree were the Knicks management because he walked out during a meeting about how to talk to the media. I also never saw him complain about playing out of position. As long as he's not seen as a top 30 guy, he is not overrated...and he'll probobly do better this year playin his true position. BTW, I could care less about Sprewell or the Knickerbockers Finally, K-Mart's agent is doin the talking, not K-mart.
Thats only the second time ive posted it. and who said anything about KMart? and dont make excuses for him he's not a child no matter how he acts. He/his agent are asking for 87 million dollars more than what elton brand is making and for that he deserves a cold slap in the face. thats what its gonna feel like for him when he sees how hard life is without jason kidd if he gets traded. the most overrated player in the league and one of the most in the last ten years
Most Overrated of All-Time There has been "overrated" topics focused on players today...but who do you feel are the most overrated players in the 50+ years of the NBA...
I don't know about the past 50 years but as of right now it has to be KWAME BROWN, just goes to show that you need a mature brain to enter the NBA, not just great skill.
At the moment I would have to say Allen iverson for the Sixers. Without there shoot first star the team is actually playing team ball and are doing well. Ai needs great players around him to prosper with his respected team not being able to prove to i verson that they can also score. Philly is in the swamps. I hope they can get K-Mart as a free agent or trade at the end of year.
Willis Reed... I think Walt Frazier was more important for the Knicks... Man,I'll get some reactions on this post

Do I have to say something here?? You don't lead the NBA in steals every year and not be considered somewhat talented. Sorry, this is my first and final post on this but that is crazy what you just said.
People are free to have their opinions in these types of threads. As terrible as these threads are.

Anyone can hofg the ball and get alot of steals. what Matters is the ring. If i'm not mistaken he has no ring. Darn to much ball hoggin and hustling i guess.
I think that Startellis is correct. AI is very overated and dont get me wrong he is very good but all that junk about him on every Sportscenter is just crazy Clock Killer

He's on sportscenter because he is good. It's not worth debating, you feel free to express your opinion. Ice Breaker
Thanks fo not gettin down my buddy Clock Killers throat. You are right we do express diffrent opinions. sixth man for president.
I am going to back up CourtVision....... What the hell are you smoking? AI is overrated because he doesn't have a ring. Well then, there goes a majority of the NBA. I guess Malone and Stockton are overrated. Barkley must be too. The only reason the 76ers stood a chance in the finals was the one man show of Allen Iverson. Id hate to venture a guess as to where they'd be without him for an entire season. Make no mistake, Iverson is as gutsy as they come. He plays on heart, which more than makes up for any lack of size. Watch the Lakers/76ers finals......and tell me how the 76ers got there.
