Here you go all ya Shaq haters: Hakeem Olajuwon-18 seasons: 1,238 games 21.8ppg 11.1rpg 2.5apg and 51% shooting along with 2 rings in 18 seasons. Shaquille O'neal-11 seasons and counting... 742 games 27.6ppg 12.1rpg 2.8apg and nearly 58% shooting, along with 3 rings. Shaq wins. End of story.

I was like owoo, a new thread. But it's ancient and I'd figure that I'll throw my 2 cents in as well. Lisa Leslie scored a 101 points by halftime and the other team forfeited. Can't blame them though.

But, I'm pretty new to this site and my fav. player is Wilt and my fav. argument is Wilt vs. Shaq... so I **HAD** to talk about this thread... sorry, for bringin' up old history
Wow, I hate when people ressurect old threads especially game and news threads. Shaq in my opinion is the greatest center of all-time. No one stopped him, no one's stopping him, and no one will ever stop him, and not even Bill and Wilt could. I'm amazed that people are mentioning the big difference in their career statistics. What do you expect from Wilt? 30 and 13? The players back then had LESS chance of stopping Wilt than the chance players have today in stopping Shaq because almost all the players back then were 5 inches+ shorter than Wilt and they didn't know how to guard Wilt, which doesn't apply to stopping. Players today know how to guard players. Alonzo and Hakeem knew how to guard him because they knew they couldn't stop him. Malone knew how to guard Garnett because he's not stopping him. So basically, all of Wilt's shots were nothing but easy lay ups and dunks for him, while Shaq constantly had more pressure from making those lay ups and dunks. So isn't it safe to say Wilt's stats would be near Shaq's if the players today were guarding Wilt? Stats don't matter anyways. All of those mind blowing statistics and only 2 championships, while way inferior statistics of a player brought a team 3 consecutive championships. NBA is the definition of today's game, not the game in Wilt's era. Wilt was playing in like a lower level than the NBA. I'm amazed of how many people prefered Wilt. Look at his frame. He wasn't even as bulky as Shaq, nor was any player that fought against Shaq. He would bulldoze Wilt in the low post anyday, no exaggeration. Plus, I'm sure Shaq would be the preference over Wilt in building a team, and I'm sure Shaq is the way better leader. Wilt is one of the greatest of all-time, but Shaq is better.
well, sorry, Chungster for bringing up ANCIENT HISTORY... but, even though Shaq is a true GOLIATH (7'1", 340 lbs.), Wilt would wear down Shaq b/c Wilt was a track-star in high school (which was eariler mentioned in this thread) and yes, Shaq wouldn't be stopped by Wilt, but that goes same for Shaq on Wilt... But, I have no idea where you get the idea that bulkier wins... Hell, I'm 6', 250 lbs... and any player that's faster than me could woop my a$$... (woops, went right by me... *darn*)... think, Chungster, if you're lighter, than you're faster, and also it doesn't put as much strain on your heart to pump blood (which means he will have more stamina and speed than Shaq which equals easy fast break points) also, Wilt could easily jump over Shaq... I would love to see Shaq get a facial by Wilt (which he could EASILY do)... Now, I'm not denying Shaq's greatness... he deserves to be placed right at the top NEAR Wilt in terms of Greatest Centers of All Time... He's a cool cat that can tear apart any center today... 3rd best shot blocker I've ever seen (Hakeem #1, Russel #2)... but, I don't think Shaq could beat Wilt P.S. You hate members that bring up old threads... well, I hate members who are bias...

Shaq wins everything in a comparison in my books compared to Wilt. It's like comparing Jordan to Kobe. Why do you expect me to say some superior things of Kobe when Jordan is better than Kobe in every single god damn aspect of the game? Shaq is more bulkier and quicker than Wilt. I don't think you realize how quick Shaq is. Once he gets his first step on you, it's over. Even with his weight and size, he was the fastest center in the league with the exception of Ben Wallace. He showed his quickness on a fast break once and he's shown it millions of times down low. Shaq would own Wilt down low 100 times out of 100, and he will stop Wilt 95 times out of 100. I don't know where you're getting the idea that Wilt would jump over him. You're crazy if you're saying "over" as in jumping over his head. Wilt can never do a facial EASILY over Shaq as in dunking with bodies aligned. The only thing Wilt can do against Shaq is take difficult hook shots. Otherwise, he's screwed. I believe no one has every dunked over Shaq while Shaq has dunked over people so many times. If Wilt had his way with Russell 95 times out of 100 on the offensive end, who I think is the best defensive center of all-time, then there's no doubt that Shaq would own Wilt even more. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Now, I'm not denying Shaq's greatness... he deserves to be placed right at the top NEAR Wilt in terms of Greatest Centers of All Time... Of course he can't. Wilt would take jumpers for every attempt because Wilt knows he can't handle Shaq down low, and Shaq wouldn't bother to go for the ball off a missed shot. In a 5on5 contest on a NBA court, Shaq would bulldoze him easily.
lol... you crazy... Shaq faster than Wilt? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry... it's just... well... I've never heard of anything funnier in my life... and no, Wilt would just run down the lane and jump over Shaq's head and give him a facial (yes, I'm sorry to tell you that it IS possible to dunk on Shaq, b/c NO ONE can stop EVERY dunk)... not shoot jumpers... (well, he could if he wanted...) Sidenote: when you say, "if ***WILT*** had his way with ***RUSSEL*** 95 times out of 100 on the offensive end, who I think is the best defensive center of all-time, then there's no doubt that Shaq would have his way with Wilt even more," then wouldn't Shaq be owned by Wilt 100 out of 100 times IF WHAT YOU JUST SAID ABOUT RUSSEL BEING "THE GREATEST DEFENSIVE CENTER OF ALL-TIME" was true? Just curious... Finally, just when you thought you screwed up info. couldn't get any worse... it has been stated in another thread about Wilt in 'Wilt "the Stilt"' (and is true... I've checked myself) that Wilt OWNED Russel in nearly every meeting they had with each other... so, if Russel truely is "the greatest defensive center of all-time" in your opinion... wouldn't that HURT the odds of Shaq to be able to stop "The Big Dipper"? Oh... on a good note, I agree with you that Russel was the greatest defensive center of all-time, too.

I'm very sure that you're joking when you said Wilt would jump over Shaq's head. I'm very positive. Yes, he was a star of heptathlete or whatever it was, but he still wouldn't be able to jump over a 7'1 1/2 height. If it is possible to dunk on Shaq, why was every single player in the NBA unable to dunk on him? So that means Shaq stopped every dunk attempt on him. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Sidenote: when you say, "if ***WILT*** had his way with ***RUSSEL*** 95 times out of 100 on the offensive end, who I think is the best defensive center of all-time, then there's no doubt that Shaq would have his way with Wilt even more," then wouldn't Shaq be owned by Wilt 100 out of 100 times IF WHAT YOU JUST SAID ABOUT RUSSEL BEING "THE GREATEST DEFENSIVE CENTER OF ALL-TIME" was true? Just curious...</div> If 1+1 equals 2, then what does 1+1.1 equal? There's a difference between the ability to shot block and the abiliity to guard a player. Once Wilt was in his sweet spot, not even Russell's shot blocking ability can stop every one of them. Wilt owned Russell more than Russell owned Wilt's dunk attempt. If Russell had Shaq's size and strength, he would not only have a greater chance of blocking his attempt, but he would have a greater chance of guarding him better. BASICALLY, Russell has the shot blocking ability and Shaq has the strength and size equating to the guarding ability. The Strength and Size would benefit more than attempting to shot block, so Shaq would prevent him from dunking on him, and he doesn't need to block it. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Finally, just when you thought you screwed up info. couldn't get any worse... it has been stated in another thread about Wilt in 'Wilt "the Stilt"' (and is true... Are you crazy? Have you SEEN Shaq play? Are you telling me that it is impossible to be able to dunk on Shaq? 100% impossible? NO, NO, NO... LET'S SAY 70% IMPROBABLE? You cannot tell me if YOU'VE really seen Shaq that he hasn't been dunked on... Man... your story just keeps gettin' bigger and bigger... AND BTW... AGAIN... I SAY WILT WOULD GIVE SHAQ A FACIAL... here's EVEN MORE info. to help ya' out... In the same thread that I have stated previously for Wilt info, Wilt, while standing and with his arms extended, reaches all the way to 9 1/2 feet. So you're telling me that if he were to... i dunno... jump... he couldn't get over Shaq... who is SOOOOOO heavy that there is no way he could get nearly as high as Wilt and I KNOW HE cannot reach 9 1/2 feet standing... so that means that Wilt beats Shaq in vertical leap AND arm extension... the 2 most important factors for dunking. Sidenote: You don't have very good english b/c what you're saying doesn't make much sense... Another sidenote: Increased size (mass wise) HURTS players' abilities to block shots...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Pacer_dude:</div><div class="quote_post">Are you crazy? Have you SEEN Shaq play? I SAY WILT WOULD GIVE SHAQ A FACIAL... here's EVEN MORE info. to help ya' out...</div> Have I seen Shaq play? Now that's the most hilarious question I've ever heard. Why is it not impossible to dunk on Shaq when probably no one has ever dunked on him? So you're saying that it's possible to dunk on him, when no one has dunked on him. If i'm wrong, then you should give an example of someone dunking on him before but yet, you say "you cannot tell me if you've really seen Shaq that he hasn't been dunked on" without giving an example whatsoever. By the way, that's poor english you have there, hypocrite. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> In the same thread that I have stated previously for Wilt info, Wilt, while standing and with his arms extended, reaches all the way to 9 1/2 feet. First of all, how do you know that he reached 9 1/2'? Second of all, it doesn't matter how heavy you are. Based on that logic, lighter people would be able to jump higher than heavier people, which is not true. Thirdly, how do you KNOW that Shaq can't reach 9 1/2'? Again, you're just making assumptions to try to get your argument across. I don't think Wilt can push Shaq down low to the point where he can do a facial. Shaq can easily resist Wilt from trying to push him down low and it's all because of his strength. IF Wilt got to his sweet spot where he can dunk on Shaq, he would block most of his attempts or he would force Wilt to MISS the dunks. How do I know? Faith. Plus, other centers that HAVE PLAYED Shaq prove my point furthermore. Based on your logic, Wilt would dunk on Shaq's head every single time. My bad. You're saying Wilt would dunk on Shaq most of the time because nobody can stop every dunk, right? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Sidenote: You don't have very good english b/c what you're saying doesn't make much sense... </div> Really? Quote an example from my post(s) that doesn't make sense. There are none. You can't comprehend english in general if you can't even comprehend my english, which is easily comprehensible. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Another sidenote: Increased size (mass wise) HURTS players' abilities to block shots...</div> Does it matter if Shaq has that load of weight? I recall Shaq being a shot blocking machine his whole career, especially earlier in his career. Oh, he would of been a better shot blocker if he had less weight, right?
I do not think that shaq is good as wilt was, Wilt dunked foul shots have you ever seen shaq do something like that. It is really a weak argument to say wilt dominated because he was taller than his opponents. If that is the case then why dont you wilt haters hold shaq to the same standards by acknowledging the fact that shaq outweighs all others centers in the league by 50 -100 pounds but he has never lead the league in rebounding not even once!!!!!!!!!!If height and weight are so important explain that one. why did shaq get outrebounded by 6 foot 8 dennis rodman and 6 foot four charles barkley?????????????? Has shaq ever lead the league in assist(wilt did)I mean you have to give credit where credit is due i mean here was wilt the greatest scorer in history who changes his game to lead the league in assist and pass the ball to people who couldnt even score in one game what he averaged in one quarter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is what you call true unselfishness and professionalism. And then to play an entire year without coming out of a game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Tell me anyone in this era who can do that and the game was faster paced back then. And i really hate to burst the bubble of all you people who says it is harder to play now than back then becasue you are seriously misguided. Wilt chamberlain got hit so hard in the jaw one night that his jaw got infected because his teeth got imbedded in his jaw. you have to realize that the referees force all players in the nba to play the style of ball of the dominant team, and since boston was the dominate team of that era and they played brutal basketball the referees and the league forced the other players play that way. wilts first game in the nba he had ribs broke. michael jordan or dr, j would have gotten their neck broke if they had of came flying down the lane in that era . Hand checking and body checking were legal and wilt still put up unbelieveble numbers even though the referees let him get killed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Pittsn0gle:</div><div class="quote_post">...why did you post something here now? It was a debate 2 years ago...</div> He does have a damn good argument.
