I don't know about this kid. he runs fast and plays D but he makes bad decisions aand isnt a great shooter. This is a pretty interesting article about Banks and it raises some issues. Some reason Im a little shaky about a player who pries himself on running really fast who was born three months premature with underdeveloped lungs. He's also EXTREMELY cocky. i mean this kid thinks he can be the BEST <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I'm not going to Boston not to start," said Banks. "I refuse. I'm going to do everything in my power to start. That's my goal, unless they bring in a guy that's hands-down better than me in every category. "I've never come across anyone who can stop me from doing anything I want to do, stop me from pushing the ball up the court, going by 'em and scoring. It's not going to happen. I'm not going to let it happen</div> im not sure how I feel about that kind of attitude. the celtics need a star pointguard if they want to be contenders but banks thinks hes it. what do you think of his attitude and how good do you think banks will be? heres the full aritcle http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/ce..._game_of_chance
I don't really like his "demand" attitude, but I've seen him play in summer league and I think he's pretty good, I think he will help the celtics, he's very quick and can get to the basket at will.
yea. that "refuse" not to start" crap turns me off. whats he gonna do if Obrien thinks he aint ready an wants delk to start, DEMAN a trade??? he clearly think shes the best point guard in the draft. is he?
I dont think it's a demanding-type of attitude, but more of a confidence type of attitude. He is extremely confident in himself, which he should be. Nothing wrong with that. That comment shows that he is the type of player that wants to succeed; committment to improvement. Good signs; not bad signs IMO.

As in, I refuse to get beaten. As in I will work so hard, train hard, and practice hard so that I don't get beated. Along the same lines of "I refuse to get beaten." As in you'll give it your all.............thats what I think he means by all of this....I don't think this is cockiness. I think he meant this in a positive way.
I guess you could look at it like that. At least he's convinced he can be the best but what good is that if u dont have the drive and the skills and teh routine to back it up
kenny anderson is still un-signed, maybe he can serve as the interim pg until banks is ready to take over.
ughhh. please no. we already got rid of kenny anderson and we had to take vin baker to do it. WILL THE MADNESS EVER STOP??????????/ if the celts want another point guard they should really bring eric strickland back. is he still available?
The UNLV trainer said that Marcus Banks was the worst student-athlete he had seen over his entire career at the school, which was like 25 years. And it is pretty reliable...Hubie Brown's son, Brendan Brown, the Memphis assistant told me.
wow. the WORST student-athlete in 25 years. thats incredible. How could he go in the first round? how could he even make the team if he's the worst college athlete in 25 years. this guy must realllly suck
Banks can score...loves to get out on the break..his main problem is he sometimes gets out of control...makes bad decisions with the ball...but he should be a good player
yea but "the worst student athlete in 25 ywars"??? that must mean sOMETHING even if its an exagerationg
It could mean a lot of things. KVH and Ron Mercer were some of the better collegiate players in their time. But neither are stars in the NBA. On the flip side, Jordan wasn't even the best player on his collegiate team(Worthy was). But we know how that ended up. A lot can happen over the course of a player's NBA career. College isn't always a good measure. Often, its right more than wrong, but their are cases where its the complete reversal. Maybe Banks wasn't the best student athlete in UNLV's history..........but that doesn't mean he can't become a good PG. But for the record........I do think Boston screwed up in Banks over Bell(in that trade). I like the fact that they gambled on Perkins.......but IMO, they'd have been better off with Bell, whom I think would have had a more immediate impact.
Bell wouldve been great. He would have been psyched to stay in Boston. he was SO popular in New England. maybe he'll end up playing for htem anyway but yea boston screwed up on banks. they cant settle merly for a "good" point guard unless they also get a "good" center. they either need both to be good or one to be great if they want to get back to the top. I think Perkins was a STOOPID crappy vomit inducing parasitic wretch of a draft pick. he's a 6'10'' power forward who the celtics are banking on becoming a legit center who cant even get off the ground and cant move across it much better. he looks soft for a giant and I get the sense he only stayed in the draft as a financial move. doesnt have the determenation or the drive to be a star in the NBA

Perkins will be a project. A huge one at that, as he didn't have the polish that Curry had coming out of HS(not that Curry was polished mind you, but compared to Perkins in what Ive seen him from video clips, Curry was more polished).
Yea but I've seen him play enough to know that he has ZERO movement vertically or horizontally. only reason anyone thinks he's anything is cause he's big and has REALLY long arms and some decent footwork. compared to Perkins Curry was Wilt Chamberlain and Shaq rolled into one even in high school. Curry may not be that much taller than Perkins but at least he's not too husky to get both feet off the ground
wow. I just checked and Curry is listed at an inch taller than perkins and is listed at the exact same weight. I'm not sure I buy that I thought Curry looks WAY more fit and at least he has some ups

It might take him 4-5 years to show anything. In the meantime, he gives Boston a big body, which they could use. Baker and Battie wont cut it alone.
