BTW, if you want to follow his developement thru the season in Serbia/Montenegro, try this profile of Aleksandrov.
Darko is not a defender, and was 16-17 years old when you saw him play, he will get pushed off the block by men. Young project here, but Darko is a scorer, he needs time, he is the youngest player in the NBA.
Basically what KJ said is correct, think about this for a second...If Darko lived in the US most of you guys would be going to see him play against or for your high school team.He is that young...
James Did his damage also against Stoudemire and Melo when he was 16-17.. Are those guys getting pushed off the block?
It's a different style of game overseas, a more traditional style of play. Over here in the US the game is a lot more physical, there is a lot os pushing and dislodging. Defense is stressed even more so than offense. Over there they play a lot like how the NBA was in the 60's and 70's, the focal point is offense. Thats why it takes many of those foreign players a few years to get used to the physical style of play.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ThaLord:</div><div class="quote_post">James Did his damage also against Stoudemire and Melo when he was 16-17.. Are those guys getting pushed off the block?</div> Stoudamire and Melo weren't exactly men back then, and none are fully developed yet (tho Amare's close). Darko played against fully grown men, seasoned professionals when he was 16 and 17. He has got a lot of developing to do physically.
I still think Darko was a mistake... But we'll see in 3-4 years... But I have another question ... Why don't NBA teams draft a Euroleauge MVP ?... The best men in europe like Thomas Van De Spiegel aren't even drafted ...
?I still think Darko was a mistake... But we'll see in 3-4 years...? Just like Dirk Nowitzki was for the Mavericks, huh? ?But I have another question ... Why don't NBA teams draft a Euroleauge MVP ?? The last years Euroleague MVP was Mirsad Turkcan, the same guy who was draftet in 1998 by the Rockets and got kicked out of the League after 90 minutes of overall playtime. ?The best men in europe like Thomas Van De Spiegel aren't even drafted ...? WTF? Van Den Spiegel is 24 now, and he isn't even close to become a key player in his team. How the hell should he be more talented than Milicic, Petro or Aleksandrov?
