Everyone seems to be in awe that DTS has paid Brand, Maggette, and maybe even Odom.

He had no choice to pay Brand and Maggette. Per CBA rule(thats the Collective Bargaining Agreement), teams have to have a roster of $32 million in committed salaries.

Guess where the Clippers are at now? $32 million.
They had to pay Brand and Maggette to get above the league minimum.

Sterling opening his wallet? Nope. Just doing it to satisfy the CBA rules.

Even if he does match Odom, he is still below the team salary cap level. Hardly "opening your wallet."

Second- Paying. J-Mac has said that DTS isn't paying his players, but letting other teams do it for him. To this, Id like to reply with a "Duh!"

Smart move on his part. Why should he offer Maggette $45 million? The Jazz would have likely turned around and offered more to Maggette; thus creating a bidding war. Pointless for Sterling. All he had to do is wait for a team to offer Maggette, let him sign it, and merely match it. Why try to outbid someone and cause a bidding war when you can merely sit back and wait?

Other teams do this as well. Its not just Sterling. Its a tactic. And it works.

Thats about all I wanted to say.......
