    Whoa, didn't know that. One of the recent Slam issues had an article about him.. I thought it mentioned him growing up on the mean streets of Detroit. Haha.

    A school that he only went to for basketball reasons. He didn't have to pay a cent to go there I don't think. Though I'm pretty sure you know that...

They will accept whoever they want, but they can only give academic scholarships meaning that they could have accepted Webber no matter what his grades were but he still had to pay the tuition. Chris Webber grew up in Grosse Pointe which anyone from Detroit knows as a rich nieghboorhood. Also, to get into Detroit Country Day School (like Shane Battier) you have to pass test after test. I would know. I was set to enroll there my Freshman year before my parents convinced me to stay in Memphis with them.

    Yea that's my mistake. I always got the impression that he was on a basketball scholarship over there but I haven't read anywhere that distinctly says he was there only for basketball purposes.
