from clutchcity.net's forum (it's a kinda bad translation from a chinese article) "Yao Ming in US'S time, every day the entire team gathers practices front the bodily strength to train completely is responsible by him. A season gets down, Yao's body weight has rose from 130 kilograms to 145 kilograms, aggressive initially reveals under the basket, all is Farsund's merit. " 130 kg= 286.598 pounds 145 kg= 319.667 pounds! Yao is going to be a freaking beast!
wow, gaining that much weight in such little time is amazing, but you have to realize a lot of it might just be water or fat, instead of actual muscle weight. Yao still needs to develop his chest and widen his back. good to see he can actually put on the pounds unlike shawn bradley and some of the other rail thin 7 footers in the league.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting HoopsCentral:</div><div class="quote_post">yeah. he hasnt gained all that weight this summer. 286 was what he was at the start of last season.</div> still. getting to 320 is pretty damn good.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting jdub:</div><div class="quote_post">yao is still gonna get dunked on, so i dont care how big he is</div> Does it really mater, at least he tries to block the dunk instead of getting out of the way and not getting dunked on. How many times did he block Shaq last year? I'll take 3 blocks a game ad getting dunked on twice a game.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting jdub:</div><div class="quote_post">yao is still gonna get dunked on, so i dont care how big he is</div> There is no player in this league that is incapable of being dunked on. Yao didnt add this weight so he wouldnt be dunked on, he added it so that he could be more dominant in the post. Adding this weight should help him alot this year in the post. He has some strong legs however he needs to bulk up that chest like shapecity said. Along with gaining some weight I really hope he has worked on his low-post game. I think he can do some serious damage in this league.
There is no way yao put on 30lbs of muscle. It's not physically possible. Excellent muscle growth is at the most 5lbs to 10lbs per year. The bulk will definately help Yao assuming his joints can adjust to it, and he can adjust to playing his style with more bulk.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">yao is still gonna get dunked on, so i dont care how big he is</div> that is an extremely stupid statement. If he can prevent guys from bullying him around on the court, who cares if he gets dunked on once a game. If he can get a better position in the lane, and back people down, he'll be hard to stop.

Either way Im sure its all fat. Yao should take his time and gradually build up lots of muscle. its possible and then hed really dominate

i dont really care if he gained 10 pounds, 15 pounds, 20, or 30 pounds. all i care bout is that he looks a hell of a lot stronger.
