<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Forward Tony Massenburg signed with the Sacramento Kings on Friday, tying Chucky Brown's NBA record by joining his 12th franchise. Massenburg also tied the unofficial pro sports record for impermanence held by Brown and baseball pitcher Mike Morgan, who also played for 12 teams. Massenburg, a 12-year veteran, spent most of last season with the Utah Jazz, averaging 4.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. He also has played for San Antonio, Charlotte, Boston, Golden State, the Los Angeles Clippers, Toronto, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Vancouver and Houston.</div> Full Article: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1601390
Awesome signing! Massenburg is arguably the toughest player in the NBA. He is a true contributer. As a Grizzlies he almost had a fight with Shaq, but Shaq backed down. I will never forget it. Massenburg is a ripped freak. I am also impressed with that 12th team fact. I would have thought Chris Gatling was on more than 12 teams. I guess not.
THis isnt a huge move by the Kings. They just brought him in to add size to their bench. An ok move by them. Massenburg isnt the best player and he wont be called on to give big minutes. OT- 12 NBA franchises is sure alot to play for.
It is hardly an Awesome signing..He will be a bench warmer.....he will basically play as much as Scot Pollard did this past year..basically not much
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting allnet:</div><div class="quote_post">It is hardly an Awesome signing..He will be a bench warmer.....he will basically play as much as Scot Pollard did this past year..basically not much</div>They got the best player available. Massenburg is a real team leader whether he is on the bench or on the court. That is why it qualifies as an awesome signing.
They didn't..There are better big men around than this guy....A guy that averages 4 points per game is not an awesome signing at all....I doubt he gets more than 5-7 minutes a game next season....Anyway it doesn't matter if he was the best available big man...He still isn't that good ...All this signing does is help fill the Kings roster...

He is a team leader. I don't care what he averages, because he's not on the team to put up ten points a night. He's on the team to give them some sort of inspiration coming off of the bench.
Alot of players do that....A guy on the kings bench called Mateen Cleeves does the same...A guy cheering on his team-mates should hardly be called an "Awesome" signing...That was my point
Mateen isn't a King anymore smart guy. And he was a valuable asset to the King's organization off the court and in practice. Watch what you say about him, because he had a better college career than most Spurs and Pistons had. He just needs an opportunity to shine.
Did I say he still was? Mateen was 10th man for all his time at Kings...He was a team leader and cheered on his team-mates at all times but it does not mean he would be a great signing for any team... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Watch what you say about him, because he had a better college career than most Spurs and Pistons had. You said Mateen DOES the same thing, not Mateen DID the same thing. There is a difference. One is present tense and one is past tense. In Detroit, Mateen achieved 5.5 PPG and 3 APG in about 15 MPG. That's not a waste of a draft pick. Ever since then he has backed up the greatest sixth man in the league and one of the greatest starters in the league so he hasn't gotten an opportunity to shine.
Mateen is still on the kings roster so until he goes elsewhere he is still a part of their team....5 points 2 assists in 15-20 minutes is nothing speical....And considering the players who Pistons missed out on by drafting Cleeves Hidayet T?rkoglu Desmond Mason Quentin Richardson Jamaal Magloire Morris Peterson Michael Redd To name a few...I say it was abit of a wasted pick... Another thing...Sorry if it seems like I'm hating on Mateen...I love his energy and what he brings in practise and he lifts his team-mates during games...I hope he gets a contract somewhere...
well like spartanfan said he has never gotten a chance to show what he can do but yeah they did miss a chance at some good role players
