I would trade Randolph rather than Patterson. They would be able to get more for him and clear up a logjam at Power Forward.
Portland would be crazy to trade Randolph..He is the future of their franchise..trading him would be a huge mistake...I would take Sheed before him...If they get rid of Randolph it will be another Jermaine O'Neal situation all over again...and they don't want that..
He is a very good defensive player...when he comes on is a spark...great energy..It's just his off-court problems which might affect teams going after him...He has already sold his home in Portland so he must think he will be going somewhere
he's the "kobe stopper", but noone would want his big contract, because they only play kobe 4 times max a year.
Not too many teams really want him. NJ trades: Rodney Rogers, filler Portland trades: Ruben Patterson NJ wants to unload Rogers. With Mourning, Collins, and Williams upfront, Rogers' PT will be limited. Portland could use some size upfront. He'd be a 4, but Sheed could slide over to the 5, Randolph at 4, Davis at 5, etc. Plus, they'd take anything for Patterson. NJ could use a good perimeter defender. They'll need that, because they need to improve upon their defense. Mourning helped their defense in the paint. Patterson would be a nice addition to the perimeter defense.
Actually, scratch that. NJ wouldn't do it. Financially, it will hurt them a lot.....ignore the above post.

There is no way that Portland is going to trade Randolph. He has too bright of a future. They already made a mistake a few years ago by trading a future superstar in Jermaine O'Neal; I doubt that they'd take that risk again.

Randolph is Portland's future star. I don't think you are realizing his true talent. I have known Randolph for a while. The last time he came to Memphis he got me tickets to the game. I had a great time and in that game he got 32 points along with 21 rebounds even though he shared about half his time with Wallace. He is worth a lot more than Hudson and Johnson, and then when you add Patterson it makes the trade really awful. Portland might trade Wallace in order to give Randolph more time, but I don't think they are going to trade Randolph for anyone less than an All-Star or All-Star in the making.

Patterson won't go to Seattle. Otherwise he'd have to register as a sex offender, which is why he left Washington in the first place.

Doubt the Lakers do it either. George is similar to Patterson. George might have the edge in shooting, Patterson in defense. Both are good athletes. But Cook was something LA wanted to add. A big man that can stretch the defense. I dont think LA would do that trade. If anything, it would ruin team chemistry. I doubt LA would do it.

The Lakers have enough of a PR mess with Kobe, bringing in another sex offender is out of the question. I thought the Mavs & Blazers were going to try to work out a deal sending LaFrentz to Portland in exchange for Ruben and Sheed ... something along those lines. Ruben is a good energy player, but his contract makes it very tough to trade him. Looking at players with similar contracts, how about Patterson to the Knicks for Spoon?

Yes, Patterson is definitely a defensive presence...which would fill the role of our injured Rick Fox...but his off-court antics and beef with the Lakers will be enough to keep him out of LA. And yeah, BCook is definitely something LA needed. He reminds me a lot of Horry in terms of size, ability and shooting range...of course, he still has to come a long way before he becomes half as crafty as Horry was on defense. A trade like this is very unlikely.
