Even though, yes, it is early ..post your lineup for the contest. Plus, dont forget that usally players who have been in the league for more than three seasons wont be asked to enter it.
It is true that the dunk contest is fun to watch, but there is no way of telling who will be in it ahead of time because the public has no influence in that matter. I realize that this is the offseason and there is not much activity in the league right now, but should we really even give any thought to the dunk contest?
Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, Quiton Ross, Mikael Pietrus, Marquise Daniels, Vincent Yarbrough, Dahntay Jones, Travis Outlaw, Ndudi Ebi,etc..
Can someone tell me whats going on with the dunk contest? Is it true that you must be under 3 years in the league, because Vince said he's got some tricks up his sleeve for the dunk competition. I'm not sure if hes allowed in their, I'm confused on that issue.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting JWillTheFreak:</div><div class="quote_post">TJ ford wont be there becuase he dosent have nasty dunks</div> Yes he does. He was second in high school comp. He has a very big vert.
The NBA has trashed the dunk contest over the years trying to make it better. Stars have said thanks, but no thanks...that is the problem. I like what DA of ESPN thought of..pay these guys more. I would like to see where Vince Carter said that he has an interest in being in the contest again, because him, Kobe, and T-Mac were all on the same page with NOT wanting to be in it again. Vince was more vocal because he did not just want to be known as a dunker, plus he cried about the chance of getting hurt, or that his knee was bugging him. Give these people what they want, the fans are why you are getting paid, so give us what we want. I think this is a joke all the way around. The 3 point shootout the last 10 years has always been the best part about the weekend (Sat at least) Think about what this contest would look like, if Kobe, T-Mac, Vince, Richardson, Mason, Davis, Lebron....I can go on, but man, the entire world would be watching, the drama would be off the charts. Too bad these guys don't give a crap about the majority of the fans.
you see i think the L has a thing going on that, they want to introduce new superstars(which is good for the nba)so they wont put people in it,only mainly rookies to create new stars...with the exception of say, jrich cause he won it he came back last feb, same with dmase who was close....... but in all fairness i think the contest would just be one of the best things ever ,witha line up of a ll the good dunkers and to see who would actually win and what would vc do+kb8+tmac+jrich+dmase..just like outsider sports said^^
Dunking contast would be phat if! Vince Kobe TMac JRich R Davis Euro Jordan(I want to see what he got) D Mason that would be a phat dunking contast
I'm sure if Vince, Kobe, and T-Mac decided to enter the NBA would throw out that 3 yr deal stipulation right away. I like JWillTheFreak's selections, I would also include Kedrick Brown & Gerald Wallace.
They say they want to promote new stars, thats just a cover up, they are doing this because vets don't want to enter, thats the truth.
I'd still like to see them do it by having players from their sponsored shoe companies face off. Nike vs. Adidas vs. Reebok vs. And1 The shoe companies can put up the money necessary to get the Vets to play.

It can work, I know if I saw a roster of who has who so we can kind of put one together ourselves, maybe it can work.
Team Nike ------- VC LeBron Kobe Amare Team Reebok ------- B. Diddy Francis Gerald Wallace J-Rich Team Adidas ------- T-Mac Tim Thomas Jay Williams Eddie Griffin Jumpman23 ------- Melo Finley D. Miles Dez Mason
There are a lot of players signed, so it could work, and the boost in shoe sales could skyrocket, I love the idea. Too bad the NBA just does not get it. That wheel idea was trash, it really took away from the players individual talents.
