http://www.nypost.com/sports/40082.htm <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> NEWEST Net Alonzo Mourning hopes he'll get the opportunity to play defense alongside Dikembe Mutombo this season the way they used to asphyxiate opponents on a regular basis at Georgetown, but it isn't likely to happen. According to sources, the Nets have revived efforts to sever their brief relationship with Mutombo, the 7-foot-2 center whose guaranteed contract has two years ($17,894,738 /$19,684,211) remaining. Earlier in the summer Mutombo and Kenyon Martin nearly became Trail Blazers in exchange for Rasheed Wallace (the Nets' reluctance to accept Ruben Patterson instead of the now retired Arvydas Sabonis ultimately killed it), but the two parties recently resurrected somewhat similar conversation. Those close to Wallace say he's been informed things have heated up again and something may still go down. Chances are a third team must be incorporated into the trade for it to occur. For example, the Raptors are infatuated with Mutombo. In fact, they're offering to send Antonio Davis ($12M/$12M/$13M, plus a 15 percent trade kicker) to the Blazers as part compensation. Wallace would end up in New Jersey and Martin in Portland. Naturally, for cap purposes, other players would have to be included; Dale Davis says he's heard he may be included in that particular three-way. </div> That'd be pretty nice for the Nets.. to get rid of Dekes contract. Don't know why Toronto would want it though, even if they are "infatuated" with him.
hmmmm, it sounds good but im really worried about the chemestry between the nets im fearing sheed would hurt it, i dunno if it happends it happends hope it can be the last peace to our championship puzzle
Pure Rip off for the Raptors! We would have to get atleast two first rounders or Woods to make it far.
It's the Hakeem Olajuwon move all over again for the Raptors if they do this deal. A lot of teams making moves for cap space are overlooking the fact players simply might not want to play for them and then they end up over paying for 2nd or 3rd tier talent. There are a lot of nice free agents next year, but do the Raptors think they can make a move for KG, AI, or Kobe?
As I said in the Raptors forum Raptors would only do this for cap space....Either that or they want to get another high pick....Blazers get Martin and Davis..while Nets get Sheed...while all Raptors get is Mutombo? doesn't make sense..but I wouldn't believe this if I was you...The NY post isn't exactly a good paper for basketball trade deals...It is normally all false statements.. As when was the last time the NY post reported a trade that actually happened?
I heard the trade would be something like this: Toronto Trades: Lamond Murray Antonio Davis Toronto Receives: Dekembe Mutombo Portland Trades: Dale Davis Rasheed Wallace Portland Receives: Brandon Armstrong Antonio Davis Kenyon Martin Aaron Williams New Jersey Trades: Kenyon Martin Brandon Armstrong Aaron Williams Dekembe Mutombo New Jersey Receives: Rasheed Wallace Lamond Murray It works cap wise i'm sure. It's a bit of a rip off for the Raptors so I made this trade to even things out: Toronto Trades: Lamond Murray Antonio Davis Chris Jeffries Toronto Receives: Dekembe Mutombo 2004 first (from New Jersey) Qyntel Woods Portland Trades: Dale Davis Rasheed Wallace Qyntel Woods Portland Receives: Brandon Armstrong Antonio Davis Kenyon Martin Aaron Williams Chris Jeffries New Jersey Trades: Kenyon Martin Brandon Armstrong Aaron Williams Dekembe Mutombo 2004 first What do you think? New Jersey Receives: Rasheed Wallace Lamond Murray
exchanging kenyon martin for rasheed wallace its that a bad idea because by contrasting both player from both of there capabilitiess like Rasheeed wallace Kenyon Martin - good ouside shooter - needs to improve outside shooting - good post up player - very Atlethic all around player - not a post up player - attitude adjustment - loves to hustle
interesting, this trade will basically make the nets eastern conf champs again, if they weren't gonna be ecf champs anyway.
If the Raptors have to get rid of Lamond Murray they'd be really stupid. He's one guy that if we keep he can really contribute.
^^agreed, that would be a bad move for the raps...i dont like that deal at all. JYD could play the 4 spot, and deke at center, but raps are losing a lot more then just 12 ppg's and 8 rpg's...AD is their dressing room leader, and does a lot for the team. i dont like that deal for the raps at all
I don't like the deal for the Blazers. They will have to deal with deciding who to start at Power Forward again, Randolph or Martin? I'd start Randolph. How about you?

Randolf at Power Forward. Antonio Davis at C. It would all depend on the matchup.
^ I would go with Randolph as well...Although didn't Martin play SF in NJ? As I have heard people say Van Horn played PF..and Martin...SF....unlikely but I have heard that.....Anyways Blazers need Randolph to be given as many minutes as possible...He is a good young talent that showed he has good skills in the playoffs and got inside to score with ease at times..He may get most improved player next season....
Martin has the quickness to play small forward. And the east has some big small forwards aswell. Like Jamison. I saw him play some SF.
Most peoples biggest concern is Sheed's attitude, but his attitude is a product of bad Blazer front office mngmnt, coaching, and crazy teammates. He is a handful, but if Rodman was able to tone it down for the Bulls, Sheed can do it for NJ, especially under the Leadership of Coach Scott and Kidd
id play randolph at center, and martin at power...antonio comes off the bench with dale...both are old, and should take a back seat to the new and improving...benching someone like k-mart or zach randolph only sets back their progression as players

dale would be a good addition to go back to the east, i was wondering if the davis bros were gonna meet up.
