It's hard to say at this point. I think Carmelo Anthony will have a better career, because he has the potential to be a 25+ ppg scorer. Caron will have the better year this year though.
Melo will have a better career.... and I think Caron might have a slightly better year this season since it's his second season in the NBA, compared the Carmelo's First.
Tough question. We're comparing a guy who was a ROY candidate in a league of mediocre rookies, to a guy who is considered elite among a draft of superb rookies. Caron had 1 year on Melo, but Melo is NBA ready. I'd take Melo.

Bremer Dajuan Wagner There was a lot of talented players drafted last season. I think the better player is going to depend on which players they are surrounded with. The Nuggets and Heat are quickly putting together a lot of young talented players so it's hard to see how they will gel. Right now Melo is in a better situation because he will be groomed to be the go to guy in Denver. Caron Butler is a great player, but with the money the Heat spent on Odom, the offense will likely go through Odom and he will be the number one option.
Better season-Caron Butler. Better Career-Carmelo Anthony. But dont get me wrong, I think Caron will be an all star some day. But what Carmelo did in college really makes me belive that he will be better.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting BC:</div><div class="quote_post">Season and Career- Caron, I think he will become a superstar while Melo, will just be a scorer.</div> I beg to differ. Carmelo is much more than a scorer. He has a complete game in all means. He can rebound, play D, is a great passer and can take over a game when needed. I think Caron Butler will actually have the better season this year, I think it will take players like Carmelo and Lebron at least one year to get use to playing against the competition that the NBA puts against them every night. Caron has already had this experience so he will feel a little bit more comftorable this year and his averages should go up. Odom might take away some shot oppurtinities from him however I dont think having Odom will hurt Caron's numbers. Odom will draw attention to the defense which should actually help Caron. Carmelo is basically a toss-up this year. If there was ever a player with poise to play great in their first season of the NBA it is him. I dont think he will have a hard time adjusting to the NBA. I think he will have a good year and win ROY however i dont think he will put up better numbers then Butler. That is just my opinion though. Throughout their careers I expect Melo to have the better one. He has everything it takes to be successful in the NBA from size, to brains, to talent. he will be a force in this league for years to come.
Carmelo will have a bette career. I even think he will have a better season this year. Butler is good but he is now on a team stacked at sg/sf.

He is a good shooter with a post move (a spin move kind of reminiscent of Elvin Hayes') and with his big body he can rebound well. He is a decent passer as well. In the end I think it will be very close between who will have a better career, but right now I am leaning toward Caron. It will be harder for Caron given the Heat's current depth at SG/SF but I believe he will pull it out because he is just as good a SCORER and is good all around in the rest of the phases of the game.

I wonder why this question is being asked though, had to be really bored.
i want to go with caron coz he made a pretty good rookie year debut .. i really think he`s a good nba player, and can make something out of his career. we, or atleast i cant say anything about melo yet coz i wanna see him peform in the nba. i love melo .. but we gotta wait n see .. but i do like caron better!
Butler could be a 25 points scorer too. Melo 1st year he wont have no1 DENVER will suck 1st year with melo there
im not even sure what that 2nd sentence means (english would be nice) but butler will NOT score 25 ppg. not even close.
I only thing a true thug would understand what that dude says. Butler has the tools to be a 25ppg scorer in the future, but not this year.
