    My favorite euro team

My favorite Bball team in europe is FC Barcelona, but I hate them talking about soccer! There my team is my hometeam, RC Deportivo de La Coru?a. www.canaldeportivo.com

I loved the Bball team of FC Barcelona specially in the 80?s and begin of the 90?s when Audie Norris, Sibilio, Epi, Solozabal etc..were playing; but at that time they couldn?t get the European Cup because the Jugoplastika Split where the star was a very young guy....Toni Kukoc..

Ah, so what do you think of FC Barcelona possibly joining the league? Would it work or is FC Barcelona too rich with tradition to join another league? I think that if European NBA teams were made then FC Barcelona would lose a lot of support. So it'd be wisest for them to join.

First thing, sorry for my English. Then, I?ve heard rumors about this possibility but if you know some links about please tell me; I?m not sure about this; I would like to see them in the NBA where for sure they wouldn?t be the worst team; the thing is the close relation of the most important Bball teams as FC Barcelona with the football ( sorry, "soccer") team, which is the mean team; FC Barcelona has more teams in different sports as Handball, hockey ( here is called "over wheels" ), Athletichs etc..
You can see that is a diferent way of doing things; there are just Bball teams too like Tau Vitoria, Estudiantes de Madrid etc..

It Will be difficult, but could be fun, don?t you think..anyway, I live one hour and half from Bcn, so would be difficult to attend the matches..

I think the way is something toghether between NBA and FIBA competitions, because if the people notice they are losing their tradition and national identity.....

Barcelona is in Catalunya, which is by its own a nation ( in the sense of the cultural sources), this is my opinion;I have a lot of friens there!

I am wondering, are you going to attend the Grizzlies/FC Barcelona game that's coming up?

I also thing that in the case of overseas expansion, the NBA has to be careful with things like names of the teams etc..

Stern: European Expansion Possible This Decade

    <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Preseason Euro Camps Possible By 2005

PARIS -- The NBA could expand overseas, probably to Europe, by the end of the decade and teams might hold pre-season training camps on the continent within two years, NBA commissioner David Stern said on Wednesday.

Stern told a news conference the increasing influx of foreign players into the NBA, wider television coverage of NBA overseas and basketball's introduction to the Olympics had made it a much more international and popular sport.

I don't think a team could ever play there for an entire season. The Nba season is too long for a team to be able to take the travel, imagine a road a game at 7 o'clock Pacific time, then having to travel to let's say Spain for a game the next night.

I really dont like the idea. If they thought it through they would see it as a bad idea. I have no problem with preseason games overseas, thats great. The only reason they are even considering having a team overseas is because it would generate a lot of money. Have they ever considered how far the players would have to travel? No one would want to play the team and players would begin to feel the fatigue because of all the travel. Im not sure exactly how long oversea flights are but i know its a lot longer then the road trips in the league now. TV scheduling would be screwed up as well because west coast vs east is already 3 hours I believe. Tack on European time and west coasters could miss the games. Overall i wouldnt mind seeing it down the road, but our technology isn't ready right now.

A flight to London from NYC takes about 5-6 hours and a flight from LA takes about 6 hours to NYC. Then the British time is 8 hours ahead of Pacific time, take all that into acount and try playing a game in LA then one in London the next day.

I hope not. It would be hetic for NBA players. Lack of sleep can cause Poor FG, and FT%. I agree with AF1's preseason games overseas are cool, but not a league, to travel from FLA to Canada, is probably bad enough.

i really hate this idea.we are not in paradise here, we are in the real world- a dangerous world with terrorist attacks a very likely possibility a trip over seas does not sound good.

What?s so bad about flying from Florida to Canada? It's not like you're flying to Nunavut. You're only going to Toronto. It's about as far north as Boston or Detroit. I think Toronto's actually a couple degrees south of Seattle too. Anyway that?s just to say that traveling to Toronto isn?t bad for players. Europe on the other hand? I said this in another thread but I?ll say it again here; I think that this will only work if they split the league in two. NBA Europe and NBA North America. The champs from each can meet each other for global bragging rights.

Toronto has a hard enough time trying to con-VINCE players to play there... Imagine how hard it will be to sign a big time free agent in Europe.

I think that's sad. There are some beautiful cities in the world. I can't understand why anyone would be that stuck on living in the States. If you're playing ball and getting paid millions to do it, why not live in Barcelona or Madrid? I'd go!

Thats a main reason right there. The flight isnt that bad now that its broken down, but the players are gonna get worn down.

There's just as likely a terrorist attack in America as there is in Western europe
