According to published reports, the 76ers have signed Iverson to a contract extension worth $76.7 million.

Iverson had one year and an option year remaining on his current contract. He is slated to make $13.5 million this season and 14.625 million for the 2004-05 season. The extension will kick in for the 2005-2006 season at $16.4 million. His salary will then increase by the league maximum 12.5 percent per season until the end of the 2008-09 season.

That means that Iverson will earn $21.9 million in the final year of his contract.

The Sixers are expected to make an official announcement about the extension on Wednesday night at the Wachovia Center.

    Good news for Sixer fans...

Great move obviously for the 76ers, but I was looking forward to some drama with AI as a free agent and possibly being reunited with Larry Brown in Detroit.

No big news here, didn't everyone know that was bound to happen. He has expressed his feeling towards the city, the fans, and the team, good ones I might add. With his talent of course they would, but they should have given him more money, as we all know he is worth more.

No, many thought he would test the market..Like Jermaine O'Neal and Jason Kidd did e.t.c....For him to commit this soon is a surprise...I knew he would want to stay...but Abit surprised he would not see what other offers are out there first...

Why would he want to see what others are offering when he has time and time again said he would love to be in Philadelphia his whole life.

As a player want to get the best available offer possible..and the best situation...AI won't be winning a championship in Philly....which is the gole of all players so him looking to see what others teams are interested would be a wise move but I respect him for agreeing to sign now...Unlike other players who see what else is out there...Commiting too early might be a mistake...but I doubt teams would offer him what Sixers did anyway...Thats ALOT of $

Haven't you seen that they are the ones bringing the team to him, not him being brought to a team. It's been like that for seven years now. With the right guys, he just might win a ring, Kobe has said that he will explore his options after this year, others might as well. You never know what the future holds.

Plus, I think he'd rather stay with one team his whole career and have amazing stats and improve his game there then he would bouncing from team to team.

What does they bringing the team to him have anything to do with it? Forget Kobe...the west is and will be strong for a long time..there is alot of great forwards which is how you win titles...Not by having a great two guard....Players like Mcgrady,AI,Pierce,Kidd e.t.c will never win a championship without a great big man....But AI belongs in Philly...weather he has a chance at a title or not..There is no where else he should play....But testing the market wouldn't of been a bad decision.
