"I wish I had gotten into reading books or something," Williams said. "The fact is, I made a mistake that I can't take back, can't turn back and won't have the opportunity to do again. "Every day I wish I could take it away. I'd like to apologize to the city of Chicago, to my teammates and my GM." For the first time since his June 19 accident, Williams spoke publicly about the ordeal. He conducted an interview by phone from Durham, N.C., where he continues rehabilitation at the Duke Medical Center. Whether Williams is able to play NBA-caliber basketball again remains to be seen. But he did clear up some misconceptions about his injuries. There was never a broken leg, as was first reported. Williams tore ligaments and cartilage in his left knee, which required surgery, and sliced a major nerve in his left leg. He stretched his pelvic bone in the accident and wore a halo to push it back into place while at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. That particular problem healed quickly. "It's the knee and the nerve," said Bulls general manager John Paxson, who visited Williams last week. "No doctor can give you an answer on that, because the nerve takes a long time to heal." </div> It's nice to know what actually happened. I'm glad he's taking his time with the rehab too. I want him back as close to 100% as possible, if that's possible
Yeah, I want to see Williams back on the court hopefully. I wasnt a big fan of his before but if he can return I will have alott of repect for him.
