<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (vikingfan)</div><div class='quotemain'>And receivers get paid to catch a ball. QB's get paid to throw a ball. RB's get paid to run with a ball. OL's get paid to block men. All sports are trivial when you reduce them to the pure object of the game. When you factor in the awe-factor, such as a QB who can thread a needle, a reciever who makes spectacular catches, a pitcher who is unhittable or a hitter who can hit any pitch, no matter how difficult, then these people start to earn the millions of dollars. Never complain about how much an athlete makes unless you are willing to stop buying the merchandise or watching the events completely. Its your patronidge that causes these players to make so much money.</div> 1. they still dont deserve the money... on matter how hard they get hit 2. thats why i stopped watching baseball
Football players play maybe 1 minute in a 60minute game, they spend 59minutes lined up, or calling a play of walking around. the average play take 3 seconds.
Baseball would be 100 times cooler (and 100 times more competitive) if they just instituted a salary cap and revenue sharing for television. Then it wouldn't be The New York Yankees vs. The Other 31 Teams every year. These two changes would give small market teams like the Brewers a real shot to contend and not be happy to shoot for .500 every year.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (nflfan04)</div><div class='quotemain'>simple answer... i agree</div> You said it wasnt a sport, PA is saying it would be cooler. NFLfan, you agree with everyone, make you own mind up
i never said it wasnt a sport... that was mystery man baseball can be a sport of its own, not in the physical part of sports but mental IMO
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (MysteryMan)</div><div class='quotemain'>Stanley Cup Super Bowl tied, NBA Playoffs, March Madness, and Baseball isn't a real sport.</div> heres proof
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (nflfan04)</div><div class='quotemain'>well i didnt neccesarily mean basketball... i meant sports like football, hockey, or rugby</div> so basketball isnt ''physical'' either NFLfan? COMEON, its physical. so is baseball, so is tennis, so is bikeing, you sound stupider than me. its physical and sport, have you ever played basketball? have you ever ran 16's? have you ever played a sport other than football and hokey? its not the ACTUAL game that makes it physical, its the practices, the workouts and the preperation. you think boxers get more pain from the hits they take, or the situps they do untill the lactic acid burns through their stomache? even cross country is a sport, so is swiming, track and field, and others. comeone its all sport, next thing your gonna say is you agree with me because you dont like it doesnt mean its not a sport, ive learned that with NASCAR
Swimming is the most tiring sport i ever i had to do. If your not in shape, swimming would defenitley do it to you. 100 Butterfly, oh my god talk about wanting to die. I think all sports are physical. I just don't agree with most of the leagues. Like Stickball.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (nflfan04)</div><div class='quotemain'> 1. they still dont deserve the money... on matter how hard they get hit 2. thats why i stopped watching baseball</div> So who does deserved the money? The owners? The money is going somewhere, its better to give it to the people who are generating the money.
I still think baseball is a woosey sport cuz even though u get hit by a 95 mph ball u still dont get the pain football players get. A player getting hit is maybe once in every 5 games. In football if ur a lineman u get hit every play and QBs are about every game hit by the D-line. Also, when u get the ball there's a good chance you'll get hit. So if i wanted to play in a safe sport out of the 4 main sports i would play baseball.
More people get hurt in baseball than basketball, you get torn hamstrings, pulled muscles, dislocated shoulders, concussions. look what TOrri Hunter just did, he tackled the catcher, look at all the players on the DL because of hamstring problems, they physical part isnt seen, but its there. You also play 162 games a year, football is 16
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (vikingfan)</div><div class='quotemain'><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (nflfan04)</div><div class='quotemain'> 1. they still dont deserve the money... on matter how hard they get hit 2. thats why i stopped watching baseball</div> So who does deserved the money? <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (nflfan04)</div><div class='quotemain'><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (vikingfan)</div><div class='quotemain'><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (nflfan04)</div><div class='quotemain'> 1. they still dont deserve the money... on matter how hard they get hit 2. thats why i stopped watching baseball</div> So who does deserved the money? They sell tickets, and the owners make money. It's a buisness, and the players are in demand. You open up a ice cream shop, with the best ice cream, you sell more than you expected, then you pay your workers more. The more you make, the more you spend.
Why don't people deserve that much money? What should be done with it? Redistribute it? If you make the money through an honest means, you have every right to keep it and do with it as you please. It would be interesting to see how fast our progess would drop off if people weren't allowed to keep the money they made. Investments into new projects would stop completely.
im just saying that in my opinion... players do not deserve to make 4 or 5 million a year... and when they stop making the money, the owners and players go on strike... the money(and steroids) are whats ruinign sports

Really tell me. What do you want. Owners spend money to win, if they don't spend the money they don't win unless they have cheap over achieving players. Money is the key to winning in MLB and the NHL. Steinbrenner, wants to win so he spends. Players only can take what is given, they don't go say, "Iam not playing unless I recieve 12.3 million". The owners put money out.
