After being called for an offensive foul in the 3rd quarter of the Pacers preseason game against the Chicago Bulls, Indiana forward Ron Artest faked a pass to referee Scott Foster. The ref, expecting to receive the ball from Artest, just ended up with his hands in receiving position. The ref then strapped Artest with a technical foul. Artest was then benched by head coach Rick Carlisle. "You can't get unnecessary technical fouls and expect to survive on a consistent basis in this league," Carlisle said. "It's serious business." "I was just having fun," Artest said. "I apologize to the ref, he had never seen a move like that before." King James
Hilarious, I'm glad to see Rick Carlisle grabbed control of the situation immediately. He is absolutely right in saying, "You can't get unnecessary technical fouls and expect to survive on a consistent basis in this league." Ron Artest will have his moments of rage, but he needs to learn the appropriate time to use them. Right now he is still wearing the "T me up" sign on his back.
I had a guy like that on my team in high school. He never saw how much it hurt the team to piss off the refs and the other team. As far s I can see, being an idiot and getting cheap fouls only hurts your team?s chances for winning. There's passion and then there's stupidity. You can be excused for the occasional foul motivated by passion but there is never an excuse for stupidity.
You have to admit though it was funny. As long as he apologized, its all gravey. Like he said he was just having some fun.
He can say he's sorry after he does everything, but he will ruin his teams chances of winning a game..which Bird will not accept.
Do that in a pick-up game if you want but not in the NBA. Being called a professional should mean something.

He means too much to their team. Brining attitude is underrated. Remember Isiah and the bad boys in Detroit?

You cross his path one time and it is your last. Bird already made it public about trading him anyway..he has been on the block, problem is not many want to gamble on the guy.
hopefully somehow he can get his act together just like kmart did a couple years ago(when he got a bunch of techs) artest has a lot of potential and could be a star in this league if he gets his act together and just chills.
there are technical fouls that can spark the team...and there are bonehead technicals...just like this one...but i do admit it's funny...
