He is athletic and has some tools, but has not showcased his full potential. What a trade for the Nets eh?

    Adversity

    It's ADVERSITY.

The money, fame, females, friends, associates etc. are only contributing factors.

Some people crumble under adversity with no clear understanding of how to overcome it.

Others face adversity, recognize what is necessary to overcome it, and become stronger, focused and renewed.

I like him as a player and his situation is unfortunate but it's so many others like him dealing with the stress WITHOUT the resources he has.

At least he can fly to an island, have spa services anywhere by anybody, move to another house, etc. to alleviate the stress.

Now if his negative energy spread to my Rockets I'd have to...

Well lets light a candle for the guy and email Vh1 about getting him a one hour special. If you can't keep your act together in the NB freakin' A, where else will you keep it in tact? The court should be his get-away from his personal issues.

King... we've seen many examples of people unable or unwilling to keep their act together in the NBA. It?s not the money, it?s not the circumstances. It?s the Man and the decisions he makes. ASHA made a good point about adversity and the different ways a person will find to deal with life. I have done a lot of work around this and the one thing that I can say with certainty is that in life upset isn?t caused not by the circumstances but rather by the story we build around them. Eddie wouldn?t be the first young talented player to fail in the League. It?s a demanding place to be and not everyone can play there. People make it sound like size and youth are all that are needed but that?s simply not the case. I?m 24 and 6?6" but I would get destroyed even though I was a good shot-blocker and outside shooter in high school. The point is that there?s no shame in struggling at this elite level there is only shame in being the one to take yourself out of the game. I wish Eddie well and hope to see him transform into the player hope him to be.

"Eddie's an important piece to the future of the franchise. I don't think this in any way diminishes that. Like I said many times before, this is a guy (who) in my short time here, I like. He's incapable of saying anything but the truth, so he tells you the truth. I love that about him. I find him easy to talk to. I think he understands his responsibilities, not only to himself but to his team." Jeff Van Gundy

I agree that Eddie is an important piece to the Rockets rebuilding efforts. I think him, Yao, and Stevie are the core of the team. However if he cant be relied apon then he wont be part of the rebuilding effort.

Yes it will be. I am a firm believer in that he needs to get all his off the court problems worked out before he returns. You cannot play at your optimum level while thinking about off the court issues.

    Best hopes for this guy.
