<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kobe Bryant said Monday afternoon that the legal events of recent months had not changed his mind, and that he would opt out of his Laker contract at the end of the season. Bryant has the choice of playing for the Lakers next season for $14.6 million or becoming an unrestricted free agent. Karl Malone, Gary Payton and Derek Fisher have the same contract options and Shaquille O'Neal could become a free agent after next season. Coach Phil Jackson has one season remaining on his contract and, according to Jackson, there have been no recent negotiations on an extension. Conversely, the Lakers offered Bryant a three-year, $54.8 million extension more than a year ago and that offer, according to club sources, remains on the table. Bryant now qualifies for a four-year extension under the collective bargaining agreement. "We'll just stay in the moment, just appreciate every day and every game, go from there," he said. Later, on the possibility of the Lakers looking very different next season, he added, "In sports, everything comes to an end."</div> http://www.latimes.com/sports/printedition...lines-pe-sports
i didnt think it would change his mind, i think he just wants to see if the lakers will pay him more money
He still wants to be the main man and get away from Shaq. LA is too large of a market and would not let this Kobe case die, so I believe he would prefer a smaller market. I have said all along that he will leave LA, they had their clashes and their runs, it is time to move on in Kobe's eyes.
I think Kobe will stay. He loves LA, and I remember him saying something about wanting to be a Laker for life..
Maybe he could sign for Denver? seriously though He will likely stay a laker...or go join Jerry West in Memphis...

I believe he wants to be THE man and get out from under Shaq's shadow. He wants to pull a T-Mac and see if he can lead a team being the main guy, I would respect him for that. After all, he already has the Rings.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting InNETSweTrust:</div><div class="quote_post">i see him going to the East...and battle Tmac to see who's number 1</div>That would be awesome. If he did go to the East, what team do you think he would go to? Jerry West's team?

im sure the wizards will take him, but i definatley dont see taht happeining, just a wish if he did go to the east
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting allnet:</div><div class="quote_post">The Grizzles aren't in the east....</div> Come on allnet, you know they will be, the reports have already been documented.
I thought the plan was they would be.. when they said the Bobcats were entering the league...but when the NBA anounced that the Hornets were moving out west there was no reports saying Grizzles or the Wolves were moving to the east.I hope they do though as that would make the east much better than it is now.
memphis would be awesome if they had kobe. i think they have a lot of promise right now. i agree about kobe going to the east though, i think that's where he would go, to battle tmac and not have to battle the lakers more than 2 games a season.
