i dont think Vince is overrated at all...like pretty much all "nba commentators" agree on that he's not the best of players......its not like everyone is talking about him and his game. for dat matter of fact no one has said anything about his game on a whole cuz he hasnt played full strength for the past 2 seasons...so wut can they say about it

The raptors head coach Kevin O'Neill was interviewd by a Chicago Sports station. And they asked him if Vince is going to continue shooting fade aways or is he going to go back to the old Vince and drive to the basket. Kevin said he'd like to see Vince go back to his old self. But it doesn't seem as Vince likey will.

It's hard to say if Vince is overrated. If he plays 72+ games this season, we will be able to tell.

The team wants to make Bosh and Peterson their main focus of the team in the next few years. I wouldn't be suprised to see Vince traded before the trade deadline.

Peterson is a 3rd string small forward right now. Bosh is only 19. Vince Carter will always be the number 1 option on the Raptors because Bosh is not someone who can score 25 or more points a game.

    Daaamn ...

almost 10 similar threads have been posted through out last season ..

    Vince ain't this ... Vince ain't that .. !!
he lacks this .. he lacks that !

I had a promis with my self that I won't talk about this topic till mid season .. cus I know what my words will be by then !!

But .. this thread has gone to the second page already ...
and ppl saying the same stuff over and over and overrrrrrr !!!

Listen Kid ... Vince has always been explosive and takes it hard when he was healthy ... !!
unforunatly, he couldn't do that last season !!! ....

The guy had 3 killer injuries in his Knees/ Ankle ...

and once he comes back, obviously he ain't gonna drive the basket and try to do crazy stuff as he used to .. that will make it worse ..

u won't be able to open such a thread by june .. I promise [IMG]

uh ok. Peterson isn't a 3rd string small forward. He's starting. Kevin O'Neill himself said Bosh will be a special player and someone they want to build around. Bosh isn't capable of scoring 25 now, some time down the road? Who knows. Like you said, he's only 19. Besides, Vince won't ever average 25 ppg again.

Vince had some injuries that made it hard for him to play at previous levels. You have to admit when Vince was healthy, he carried the Raps. the worst thing was letting T-Mac go because that would've given him a serious running mate. Especially since in my opinion T-mac can lead the break better than Vince.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting G-UNIT:</div><div class="quote_post">Hate all you want, ive been a raps fan since the beginning and IMO VC is the most overrated player in the game today. Yes VC can score, Yes VC can dunk, but VC cannot defend, does not drive to the hole like he used to, does not possess the mental toughness to play with nagging injuries, and is not a leader. Yes VC has had his share of injuries, but when has that stopped AI, or TMAC or KOBE from playing? When T-Mac signed with Orlando, I knew right away he was gonna blow up and be a better all round player than VC ever will be. Dont get me wrong, I love watchin VC play, but half the time he is on the perimiter taking jump shots when he SHOULD be driving to the lane ala KOBE, TMAC, AI Paul Pierce etc. I would trade VC straight up for Pierce or Marion, in a heartbeat.

    Peace.</div>

I have a problem with "debates" like this one because they are completely freeform and as such get nowhere fast. If you?re going to bring up a word like overrated please back it up with something or at least define what you mean by it. Very few people are hyping Vince at all. Until I hear someone say that they think Vince is the best player EVER or something silly like that I don?t think that there?s any point in arguing this. Vince is considered one of the best dunkers of all time. He?s considered to be an exciting player and one of the best players the Raptors have ever had. That?s about it and he?s earned all of that.
As for him being as good as his cousin?I have to admit to having a bit of a hate-on for T-Mac since he left Toronto. I?ll drop that now. I was pissed when he left because I felt that it was the worst move the Toronto brass could have made. When I started becoming a Raptors fan I made a comment to a friend of mine that as good as Vince was the lanky kid on the bench was the most impressive player on the team. From that point of view the argument that Vince is overrated could be made. They did everything they could to keep him while ****ing around with T-Mac. I think a more accurate statement would be that the Raptor management undervalued T-Mac. Vince was rated about right.
Vince makes them money and excites the fans. That?s all most people see him as. He?s an exciting charismatic player?not the best in the league but he is fun to have around.

People hate on VC too much

This season, Carter gets triple teamed. In his rookie season no one knew about him so it was man to man. In McGrady's breakout season no one knew, so man to man, TMac is gonna have it alot harder this year. Carter took raps to 2nd round of playoffs, Mcgrady has yet to take his team past the first round. TMAC is the one complainin about no 2nd all star, well Carter has no one either. ANd dont tell me AD is some all star cuz he aint. Lets see how McGrady gets thru a double-triple team.. cuz they dont do that much on him. People luv to hate on vince ever since injury.. how many other players got injured in the league that no one criticizes. No one disses up Grant hill, the man is a dud. MJ in his early rookie years was injured for 1-2 seasons. No one criticizes as badly as Vince gets it. He now makes the whole Raptors better. I have yet to see where McGrady would be willing to sacrifice his own stats to make his whole team more productive.

VC may not be the best player...but he's not in any way overrated...every player has a weak point...in vince's case, it's his defense...but he's pretty ok on defense...not the best...but pretty ok...

Are we talking about Shawn Marion? That is absolutely ridiculous.

vince carter is by far the most overrated player in the nba by farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...... you can't even compare him to tmac- he is so weak!!!!!! he was milking his injurys for days and days beyond end- hes is the weakest player in the nba and the only reason he is in the nba cause he got bounce but if it wasn't for that he would be playing in weak ass mens leagues back in floridia. wat now??????????

^That post didn't make any sense. So far hes been healthy and hes averaging 25 ppg. You didn't back up your points on how hes weak, and secondly, if you were 6'6 230 pounds playing with torn ligaments in your knees, I would bet any money you'd be sitting out. Heck, your normal self with those injuries would sit you out of action for a very long time. Please back up your opinion with facts.

You prolly hate on him cuz u dont watch any Raptors games at all. Either that or ur a typical Orlando fan. Did u recently hear TMac complainin about zones and how it should not be allowed? Do u see vince complainin about that. TMac talks alot of trash, and complains more than Carter. Carter just gets injured and shows the expression on his face. But Carter NEVER complains. he takes his shots.. McGrady again didnt even carry his team past 2nd round of the playoffs. Carter already accomplished that, there must be a reason why Raps are 5-5 and Magic is 1-9. Its all Carter

Vince is talented, he just needs to be more disciplined. He takes some BAD shots. Too many forced jumpers....
