When it's all said and done, Jerry Krause will hold the same place in Bulls history as Michael Jordan and Phil Jackson.

The former Bulls general manager will have his own banner hanging at the United Center, right next to Jordan and Jackson - two people who didn't always hold Krause in high regard.

But Krause won't ask to have his banner moved to the opposite side of the arena. He is happy to be included in such company.

"Phil and I had a good working relationship. He's just not in my circle of friends," Krause said. "Very little feuding went on. We just disagreed on how to operate."

Of course, one of Krause's greatest accomplishments was pulling Jackson out of the CBA to work as an assistant coach under Doug Collins and later to replace Collins as head coach. Otherwise, it's unlikely Jackson would have ever coached in the NBA.

As it stands, Jackson and Red Auerbach are tied for the most NBA titles as a head coach with nine each.

"I'm proud that I hired him. It's severely questionable if I would be up there if those guys weren't up there," Krause added.

A few hours before the Bulls finished the preseason with a 93-89 loss to Memphis, the team officially announced that a Krause banner will be hoisted to the United Center rafters next Friday during halftime of a game against Atlanta.

"I checked a little bit and I think I'm the only pure GM to be hanging," Krause said. "Red Holzman and Red Auerbach are hanging, but that was mostly for coaching.

"It will be nice to walk into the stadium and see it up there. It's an honor to be up there with the guys that are up there already. Everybody up there has touched my life one way or another."

Johnny Kerr will do the introduction. Dunno, I think it'll be a little akward, especially with Scottie there.

So if you were going to the game would you cheer? I know I would. But I'd probably be in the minority. As we've seen, a lot of bulls fans have shown themselves to be knowledgeless, classless, boobs.

I'd cheer. He's hated by many Chicago fans, but I think he deserves more credit than he gets for putting together such a great team during the Bulls championship run.
