Anyone who says Duncan did not deserve the MVP award needs their head checked...60 wins..1st seed..what else does the guy have to do? KG had talent last year..a few good scoring options they didn't get the job done plain and simple..People love making excuses for Garnett every damn year..He has some better talent all-round him this year..If he is better than Duncan he would carry the team has now to the title,right?...Kidd had a great year two years ago..IN THE EAST
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rudeezy:</div><div class="quote_post">His first one I didn't think he deserved it. I think J-Kidd was MVP hands down. But last year? How did he not deserve it? He led his team to an NBA championship and took down the 3 time defending champs. Please explain.</div> I disagree with the first staement - I think while Kidd was superb, people overlooked the fact that K-Mart had a year under his belt, Kittles and Van Horn were injury free for a long time and MacCulloch had a breakout year - which to me was just as much a reason for their success as Kidd was. I've always thought Duncan's first MVP award was the one he deserved most - IMO it was more clear cut than it was last season with KG. Still very deserving though.
I gave my vote to Kidd 2 years ago, I believe he earned it. If you take Kidd off of the Nets..who knows how terrible they would be, because Martin and Jefferson still to this day can't create their on shot.
given everyone's reasoning for Duncan's MVP, should not Shaq have won it the three years the Lakers won titles? At least two, to the one he did get it... However, Duncan, I think, was the best player in the league last season. He took a moderate to decent team and made them the title holders. He had great individual play and great team play, brilliant. I am not sure I agree wholeheartedly with your list of 'best players' and like Rude, I don't think I could neccessarily come up with that list. I would have my top 5 be the basic top 5 though, KG, TD, Shaq, Kobe, and TMac. AI and Kidd would be in there as well. If we're talking talent levels, I'd probably put TD, Kobe, Duncan, Shaq, TMac. We're talking 'domination' I'd probably go Shaq, Kobe, TD, KG, TMac. If we're talking best, its a toss up because they all do whats needed for their teams to win.

Duncan did deserve it last year. He did everything for them. He scored, played good "d", and rebounded. But, 2 years ago, different story. JKidd got screwed. He took the Nets from a 27 win season the year before to 52 the next. Stephon Marbury, a great player in Jersey, couldn't do that up there. It just shows what JKidd can do to a team. He can take it out of the cellar and make it a contender. That's why he deserved it 2 years ago.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting J-MAC:</div><div class="quote_post">He had my vote to. he turned that team around and they went to the finals(i think)</div>Youre right. There is no way the Nets make it there without Kidd. He was the Nets Most Valuable Player.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting J-MAC:</div><div class="quote_post">He had my vote to. he turned that team around and they went to the finals(i think)</div> I agree with you 100% now, please don't give me ANYTHING. Lets just hope your basketball knowledge is not contagious.
1. Kevin Garnett-I think he's surpassed Duncan this year. He's played absolutely incredibly this year, and is the consensus MVP at this point in time. 2. Tim Duncan-He falls to #2 on this list, but he is still the 2-Time-Defending MVP, and the 2-Time NBA Champ. Him and KG are a toss up, but I believe Duncan's free throw shooting and passing are holding him back. 3. Tracy McGrady-He's been turning it on as of late, and isn't getting much help from his teammates. I'd be shocked if he didn't opt out of his contract after next year if there aren't huge changes in Orlando between now and then. 4. Kobe Bryant-Surrounded by talent this year, and playing with basketball in the back of his head more often than not, Kobe's numbers are considerably this year, but Kobe is still Kobe. He's capable of taking over games, and you trust him with the ball in the clutch. 5. Shaquille O'Neal-The most dominant force of this era, Shaq isn't what he used to be at his current age. He's older now, slower, and more injury prone, but he still has a lot of good basketball left in him. Come playoff time, if he's healthy, there's no one you'd rather have on your team. 6. Jason Kidd-The stats don't show what this guy does to the Nets. Always a triple-double threat, Kidd is one of the most well-rounded players in the NBA, and he makes his teammates so much better. When he's not on the floor, the team looks lost. Very valuable player that every team wishes they could have. 7. Allen Iverson-Iverson has a huge heart, and always gives 100% effort on both sides of the court. Iverson is one of the most prolific scorers in the league today, and a guy defenders never wanna see. Say what you want about his personality, but AI is a damn good basketball player. 8. Paul Pierce-Pierce has done an amazing job this year despite playing with very little help from his teammates. Despite not shooting well at all this year(barely over 40% from the floor) Pierce has a team that starts Mike James, Jiri Welsch, Mark Blount and Walter McCarty just 2 games out of the division lead. 9. Jermaine O'Neal-Jermaine has quickly developed into one of the best big men in the league, and a consistent 20-10-2 guy, that you can count on to work wonders on both ends of the court. This guy has loads of talent, and has the Pacers playing excellent basketball this year, giving the East a legitimate title contender. 10. Peja Stojakovic-With C-Webb out with an injury, Peja has become a reliable go to guy for the Kings, and one of the top scorers in the NBA. Stojakovic is arguably the best pure shooter in the league, and is lights out from long range shooting 43% from behind the arc this year. Quietly has improved his rebounding quite a bit as well.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting King James:</div><div class="quote_post"> so touching </div> LOL! for real though, did duncan really have that much of a better team then KG? who the crap was bruce bowen before he started playing with duncan? he was a mediocre defensive player who couldnt shoot if his life depended on it. suddenly hes a premier permiter defender and a deadly 3 point shooter. duncan is like kidd, he makes people better. manu, mr. parker, all of them play better being with duncan no question that duncan deserved the MVP last year. i dont really dig his game, but i give respect where respect is due, and he earned it last year. but kidd was the mvp the year before, nets would have been lottery bound without him. prolly still are
1) Duncan 1a) Garnett 3) Bryant 4) McGrady 5) Brand 6) Kidd 7) O'Neal (Shaquille) 8) Allen 9) B. Davis 10) Peja Stojakovic If anyone out there cares what I think...

He averages 3.2 assists a game and is one of the best passing big man in the game, The last few games hes been handing out like 5+ assists, and he is unselfish...His free-throw shooting needs to be improved no doubt that is his weakness but when he does everything else on the floor and makes his free-throws when the gae counts(Last years Finals), Then it makes that bit of your post seem worthless!

The point is, he's shooting 60% from the line, and that is definitely a weakness of Timmy's. I didn't mean his passing was holding him back in the sense that he's not a good passer, but that it's holding him back from being at KG level. Duncan may average 3.2 assists per game, but KG averages 5.0 this year, and 6.0 last year. Garnett is clearly superior in the area, and that's the point I was attempting to convey.
my top ten: 1. Kevin Garnett 2. Kobe Bryant 3. Tim Duncan 4. Tracy McGrady 5. Allen Iverson 6. Jason Kidd 7. Paul Pierce 8. Jermaine O'Neal 9. Peja Stojakovic 10. LeBron James 10a. ANY PLAYER who nears his contract extension or is playing in his final contract year.
Garnett averages better numbers, better record. Clearly Garnett would havta be better by the standards everyone set for Tim Duncan had last year.
is the top 10 players in the league..not top 10 fav players but uh..in the league right now...itll be 1.kg 2.td 3.tmac 4.kobe 5.shaq 6.j.oneal 7.iverson 8.kidd 9.pierce 10.marbury i still T-Mac is better than kobe..ppl always brings up the fact that kobe has 3 rings and playoffs..and blah blah..lol if T-Mac had shaq.....
Tim Duncan missed a few games, though that wouldn't have made much different for "him" alone but moreso for the team of course. My ranking would go along these lines, I'm probably bias and may seem somewhat incompetent as I'm not too knowledgeable with some aspects, as in, meaning which players are around. 1. Kevin Garnett 2. Tim Duncan 3. Jason Kidd 4. Ray Allen 5. Sam Cassell 6. Ron Artest 7. Paul Pierce 8. Tracy McGrady 9. Michael Redd 10. Zach Randolph
