<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">X-Rays taken in Tokyo following last night’s game revealed that Elton Brand has a hairline fracture of the fourth metatarsal in his right foot. The fifth-year power forward is expected to be out of action for approximately four to six weeks.

The injury was diagnosed by Dr. Steven Shimoyama, a member of the Clippers’ Los Angeles-based medical staff traveling with the team in Japan.

Brand, who missed 18 games last season with a stress fracture in his lower left leg, logged 21 points, 15 rebounds and tied a career-high with eight blocks in last night’s 109-100 loss to the Seattle Supersonics, the season opener for both teams.

I'm sorry to see that after such a brilliant game. Atleast this injury occured early in the season.

Man...how bad are the clippers gonna be now!!? Well, at least now we'll get a good look at Wilcox other than when he was at Maryland.

Ouch. The Clippers are now in very bad shape. Even when he comes back he wont be 100% right away. It seems as if this franchise is just destined to failure. Everything that could go wrong for them in the past, has.

He also added five assists, but that is beside the point. The Clippers were never expected to do much, but I honestly think that Brand's absence will barely affect them none the less. Maggette has made significant improvements and it's not like the Clippers don't have any backup big men. Don't forget about Chris Wilcox, Melvin Ely, and Chris Kaman. All three of them will be contributing downlow to make up for Brand's absence.

I agree. I could care less about the Clippers, but Brand is a great player, and I've liked him ever since he was on the Bulls.. this sucks. [IMG]

Well, the Clippers are officially screwed. They weren't gonna win many games in the first place, but, now, with the loss of Brand, they're gonna lose a lot more than what they should probably. Oh well. It's not anyones fault Sterling won't spend money on good players to make his team better.

Would you mind explaining how Brand and Maggette managed to stay with the Clippers then?

He's opened up his pockets a little but hes still a cheap skate. Thats just something he will always be known for.

The Clippers dont have a very bring future and this injury has put a damper on it all. Brand had a great game going and hes a terrific player. Sucks to see this happen to him.

Why does everyone think they will suck with no Brand? I realize that he is their best player, but look at their downlow BACKUPS -

    Chris Kaman
    Melvin Ely
    Chris Wilcox
    Sofoklis Schortsanitis

Don't get me wrong, I'm one of the bigger Melvin Ely supporters around, but he hasn't proven himself to do anything in terms of contributing on an NBA team yet. The same goes with Wilcox who still has a lot of rawness to his game. Sofoklis is a project plain and simple. Kaman is a good player and can make some contributions with his jumper, footwork, and hustle but it will be nothing compared to what Elton Brand brings. Even combining all their possible contributions it will not equal the production and problems to other teams that Elton Brand gives night in and night out.

Poor Clippers, either they are destined to be bad or are one of the most unlicky franchises in sports history. Either Corey Maggette and the rest of the Clippers step it up big or it's another lottery season with a chance at the worst record in the League.

^I think they would have been a lottery team even if Brand didn't break his foot. The Clippers have always have talent, but have been unable to do anything with it.
