i keep hearing about.....Pat Riley having signed another bad contract and that will result the same as of Eddie Jones and Brian Grant- missing the playoff.
Well...i haven't watched too many Clippers game before but how good is Odom?
Is he really worth 65 million? any projected numbers that he will have this year?
I love the heat and although they have been going downhill, i still love 'em. I just don't understand sometimes...why they overpay....

Odom is a very very good all-around player. The problem is that he has trouble staying healthy. Here are my projected stats(assuming he stays healthy, which may not be the case [IMG] ):
    17.9 Pts
    8.1 Reb
    5.6 Ast

hey, i'm from the l.a. area and I've watched Odom since college. Odom is a good player but 65Mil? NO

He's oft injured, and really never seemed that focused. He has no right hand whatsoever which causes him to make a lot of turnovers when he tries to drive right. He drives right and tries to shoot with his left which always ends up being a terrible shot, or they strip him midway into his shot. Sometimes, he gets bailed out with a foul. He's had this problem forever and has never done anything to develop his off-hand. If you haven't seen much of odom, just watch him closely the next game. You'll see what i'm talking about.

Nonetheless, Odom has a lot of unrealized potiential. If the coaches can correct his game, he has a chance to be really good. 65 mil for a project though is a big risk...

Well Kenyon Martin isnt nearly as good or as versatile as odom and hes asking for 20 million dollars MORE so I guiess if that happens Lamar is the ultimate bargain

But thats how the NBA works when it comes to agents demanding salaries for their players.

The worse is Jalen Rose's contract. I think he's getting $14mil+ the next 4 years. Crazy isn't it? he's nowhere near making double digits with the way he plays. Who gave Rose this much? What boob was the Pacers GM back then?

Oh and eddie Robinson - Krause gave him a great contract and he's making 6mil+ the next 3 years

Martin is a better player than odom, nonetheless neither guy is worth that much. K-Mart needs to rebound and block more shots like he did at cincy. Odom is just not as versitile as people give him credit for. He's just a tall guard. He doesn't really capitalize on his size and/or handles like he should.

Odom is an ideal complementary player, but not a franchise player. I don't know why they are trying to build a team around him. In the NBA how many teams are built around non-scoring players? Detroit is ARGUABLY an exception, but even they traded their former franchise (stack) for a scorer (rip).

I'm not sayint that grabbing boards isn't important, but Odom doesn't have the mentality, skill, or leadership to be a franchise player.

Lamar is a better scorer. Martin has never averaged more than 16 points a game for a whole season. lamar did 17 a game his second year. He hasnt had to score as much as he could having played on some relatively deep teams but hes a much more dependable go-to scorer than kenyon martin who can only really score on the break not at will like real stars. Martin gets intimidated in big games against big competition and just cant force out a score when his team needs it unless Kidd all but does it for him.

Lamar is more versatile. Even when he doesnt score he helps his team. Hes not as athletic as Martin but he still has a career average for rebounding and is a tripple double threat. Does Martin even know how to pass a basketball?? Odom knows how to make his teammates better by getting them open looks.
