4th Round Draft Pick With us getting the 4th Round Draft Pick in '04-'05,I have optimism for our team! Plus, you must take into account that all NBA teams must have one player available to offer the bobcats come draft time. You know, we may not have a Championship or even playoff worthy team next year.....but at least we HAVE ONE!!!!(And, we can always build the team up! Let's just start playing some bball soon!) -------------------- <font size="1">Thread title edited by <font color="DarkRed">King James</font></font> -------------------- BTW, Nice avatar (I made it for him) - KJ
Is it time yet to start thinking about who this pick is going to be? I started a thread a while back about the expansion draft and you can start to get a feel for what this team will look like. check out that thread! http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread.php?p=99213 also I'd be interested to hear what people think about this fourth pick. One site has Hakim Warrick from Syracuse going fourth. Is he a player to build around? I really don't know so please enlighten me!
well..... ok, well...from what ive read........http://www.sltrib.com/2003/Oct/10202003/sports/103783.asp and http://www.bayarea.com/mld/charlotte/sport...ats/6143689.htm I feel optimistic about our first season*especially*since the league usually expands by two teams at a time. This time, that's not happening so we can "spend more time focusing on the right players to pick and not worry about what the other team will pick." <font color="silver">http://www.bayarea.com/mld/charlotte/sports/basketball/nba/charlotte_bobcats/6143689.htm </font>
If UNC's Raymond Felton has a big season and leaves school I could see Charlotte selecting him. He'd be a good player to build around since he's young and would appeal to the Tar Heel/Bobcat fan. I imagine there must be quite a few of them.
Found this out today...11/9 Perhaps we'll get Rodney White??........read this http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/spo...pppppp|Trevor|Y *note* if the above link doesn't work....you'll have to register :thumbsdow
White is an interesting prospect. He never really showed what he could do. He was one of those guys like Kendrick Brown, Dasgna Diop, and Chris Mihm who were lottery picks but never really got the opportunity to play. I think White would be a good addition.
Mihm has got the chance, but can't play long minutes because he either breaks down/gets hurt or gets into foul trouble. Mihm for a stretch of 20 some odd games 2 years ago showed he can be a 15 and 7 player, but then got hurt. Since then he has not showed that type of aggression again. If DeSagana Diop keeps this play up, the Cavs will lock him up long term. He has 10 blocks in his last 2 games, has been finishing the ball games for us, and keeping Ilgauskas off the floor in the 2nd half of these ball games. Mihm very well can be on our unprotected list for the Cats, but not Diop.
I agree about drafting Felton. I believe we need to build first around a talented point guard until we can get a franchise player, and Felton has the size and the skills. I think that Dallas, San Antonio, Memphis and Portland all have deep benches that can be good pickings for the expansion draft, which can provide great veteran presences around that 4th pick, whoever he may be.
I'm pretty excited about the Bobcats coming into the league, and I think drafting Felton would be a great start for them. He could become a mainstay real quick, and it's a great opportunity for him, should it happen, to be a leader and contribute in a big way.
With the 4th NBA Pick, The Charlotte Bobcats pick ... With the 4th NBA Pick, The Charlotte Bobcats pick Ben Gordon. http://unlimited.nba.free.fr
Felton would be a great fit, I think he would love to stay in North Carolina and play for the Cats. Charlotte is in an interesting situation, the NBA hasn't added just a single team in more than 20 years. With every team having to leave players unprotected, Charlotte will have a great spread of talent to choose from. I also think Bob Johnson is going to have a lot of free agents willing to come to NC to play for him. He's going to be a great "players owner". The Bobcats might be a top team in the east in a few short seasons.

I would much rather have this franchise draft a player like Loul Deng who has enormous potential and gives them a player who can provide an instant impact. If they decide to go with a PG with the 4th pick, I would take Ben Gorden over Felton. What is the likeliness that if they take a non-PG with the 4th pick that they will possibly look at a player like Chris Duhon with their 2nd round pick?

Although, I think Felton may be a better pro than Gordon, I don't see Ben as a true PG. In my opinion, he would make a much better shooting guard, he's a great scorer without the ball. But I love Deng, and would definitely take him at four if he's available. The second round is going to be hard to predict, there are so many players that end up going in the second round that should have been first-rounders and vice-versa. Duhon is a nice player, I see him going somewhere around late first, early second round. It's possible that the 'Cats will look at him, guess it depends on who they take with thier lottery pick. Maybe they even consider trading down, or trading it to another team for an established player?

Sure Ben Gordon has a scorer's mentality, however so did players a lot of players coming out of college that are now NBA point guards. I think he will be similar to a Steve Francis; a shooting guard by nature that has the ability to run the point. If we are talking about a traditional PG, there is no one better than Duhon in that category. He is the the traditional PG, who is a great floor general and always looks for his teammates rather than looking for his own shot. I think the Bobcats will defintely keep the 4th pick unless they move up or down a few slots. I see no human way that they will trade away their first round pick for a player. I am pretty sure they will be praying that Luol Deng is available there. If not, I think they might move up a few slots to insure that they get him. I think he would be the perfect player for this team to build around. The second round like you said is completely up in the air. That pick is easily tradeable. If they can get a good veteran player for that pick, I think they will look to trade that pick away.
Actually, I think Felton is a better bet to hedge on than Duhon. I think he's a better point guard, both in scoring(although he's not needed to score) and in passing. I too would take Deng, if he is available. That is the catch, and I don't think he will be. I think the top three guys will be Okafor, Deng and Dwight Howard. That leaves Pavel Podkolzine, the amazing growing freak, points like Chris Thomas, Felton(if he goes pro), Gordon, and a sleu of others. Kris Humphries from Minnesota would be a good bet, he's the Carmelo of this year's frosh class in terms of statistics, although he's undersized for the 4. But I think Felton will be an all-star point guard, a guy who can eventually average 10 apg and perhaps 15-16 ppg, which will go a long ways to developing the other young pieces Bickerstaff adds to the team.
