I was just reading an article about Horry and San Antonio and I was wondering, do you guys miss him? Would you miss him more or less if he retired instead of signing with 'the enemy?' I personally don't miss him much. At the end of our last championship I was saying he was too old, too slow, and many things, but especially after the last playoff run. He'd have been great at a vet minum. Definatley better than ho grant. But he's just not a 5 million dollar player. Everyone talks fondly of his 'heroics' but I argue if we had a strong/decent PF, who could play 30-40 minutes per game, we'd never need his heroics. If we had a guy good for 10-15 and 8-12 a night, we wouldn't need last minute 3 pt shots. Period. So, thanks for the help along the way Horry, but we don't miss you. (at your salary at least)
I think they do miss him and have respect for him. He hit so many clutch shots for them it is ridiculous. He was a life saver for them, always seemed to be in the right spot. He did all the small things for them too. Do the Lakers miss him now with the team they have? I'm not too sure.
Yeah, I miss Horry. In my eyes, he will always be a Laker...I'll always be rooting for him...as long as he's not playing against the Lakers. I'm happy for him, though. He's finally back in Texas and closer to his family. But if I did have a choice, I'd wish that he had gone back to the Houston Rockets which is his original team and his hometown.
I think horry was good for the lakers, especially is underrated defense (altho he couldn't defend the bigger forwards, he did all he could) That being said, horry was horrible last year. HE somehow got even worst in the playoffs. During that playoff game agasint San anotionio, when kobe passed the ball to Horry for the buzzer beater, despite his heroics of years past I KNEW HE WAS GOING TO MISS IT. His game just fell apart last year so NO i dont really miss him, not for 5 mill at least. Brian Cook, when he comes back, should fill in horry's offensive role just fine.
after his post-season with the lakers performance...no i dont miss him. it was fun watching him the previous three championships though, but now it seems he is just aging and his game is not what it use to be.
I sure do. Horry has contributed so much for the Lakers in the past, and t's hrd to see him do it for another team
Traitor can stay with whatever team wins the playoffs the previous year. I Garauntee, He wouldn't have left if he knew Payton and Malone Were coming..
I don't think it was really his decision- the Lakers didn't really show any interest in re-signing him to anything more than the veteran's minimum.
Horry will always be a Laker and I thank him for his clutch shots, but why the heck did he go to San Antonio? Go to Houston foo! He didn't have to say those stupid comments either, even if he was joking. But I miss B-Shaw more. That dude is a class act. At least he is a scout now for the Lakeshow.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting the MDE:</div><div class="quote_post">He didn't have to say those stupid comments either, even if he was joking. </div> What stupid comments did he make? The only thing I ever heard about was that he doesn't thinking having 4 allstars will guarantee a championship. People may disagree with that statement, but it isn't stupid. '
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trail_Blazer76:</div><div class="quote_post">What stupid comments did he make?</div> He said that he played with the 2 biggest ballhogs in the world, and tried to sarcastically diss the Lakers. Even if he was joking, it wasn't very funny!

Actually, Allnet, ahem, sir, alot of people think Shaq's comments are quite hilarious, despite how knuckle-headed they sometimes may be. At least Shaq says something, unlike Mr.Tinman Timothina Dinkun.

Horry was great for the Lakers, and the Lakers were great for him. He never fit in with a team until he came to the Lakers. His clutch shooting and intangible, selfless play was exactly what the Lakers needed. He did not have the pressure of having to score, so he could focus on what he does best, defense, and making big shots. The way the Lakers are playing, I don't miss Horry at all. I would have liked to see him retire as a Laker, but there simply isn't enough playing time for him to contribute anymore. Karl Malone commands most of the minutes, and the Lakers still need to develop Slava and Cook more for the future. As for his comments, they were very true. Both Shaq and Kobe are ballhogs, but their roll on the Lakers is to score 75% of the points. Horry understood this and accepted it, and it's one of the reasons the Lakers have the 3 rings. Horry on the Spurs made sense for him professionally and personally. He gets to play with the current MVP and gets to be closer to his sick daughter.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">As for his comments, they were very true. Both Shaq and Kobe are ballhogs, but their roll on the Lakers is to score 75% of the points.</div> Yeah and maybe if Horry had stepped up and helped out with the offensive role, Kobe&Shaq wouldn't have to score 75% of the points. Who were they supposed to pass to? Janerro Pargo? Kareem Rush? Samaki Walker? They weren't ballhogs, they did what they needed to do. Too bad they didn't get enough help from the role-players later in the season.. And Shapecity- how can you call yourself a true Laker fan when you diss the Lakers?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting allnet:</div><div class="quote_post">Thats just the way he is.Why should Duncan talk trash? he is the prefect example of a class player who respects everyone in this league.</div> You don't have to respect everybody to be classy.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting the MDE:</div><div class="quote_post">You don't have to respect everybody to be classy. </div> Thats why he is a classy player and respect everyone in this league...but to be a classy player you normally respect everyone you go up against.Sadly alot of players aren't like that. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">And Shapecity- how can you call yourself a true Laker fan when you diss the Lakers? </div> So you are saying to be a real fan you aren't allowed to diss your team and point out their faults? that is messed up logic.Teams aren't prefect..and deserve to be critised when they need to be.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting the MDE:</div><div class="quote_post">True fans stand by their teams. Too bad I can't say that for many posters at this site.</div> Care to go into detail who you mean? fans stay by their team at all times. However when they need to be critised and point out their faults there should be no problem in that.
