<div class="quote_poster">Quoting the MDE:</div><div class="quote_post">Yeah and maybe if Horry had stepped up and helped out with the offensive role, Kobe&Shaq wouldn't have to score 75% of the points. Who were they supposed to pass to? Janerro Pargo? Kareem Rush? Samaki Walker? They weren't ballhogs, they did what they needed to do. Too bad they didn't get enough help from the role-players later in the season.. And Shapecity- how can you call yourself a true Laker fan when you diss the Lakers? </div> A true fan sees the flaws in a team and offers ideas to fix them. I'm a die hard fan of basketball first and foremost. The Lakers are my favorite team and I have been a fan for over 23 years. I supported them after the Showtime dynasty was over and I will continue to support them when the Shaq and Kobe era is gone. Fans who see nothing wrong with their team and support them no matter what are bad for a team. If you are blinded by the fact nothing is wrong with your team and players you are not a true fan. If you are, too biased to respect a person's negative comments, then they will have no respect for your comments in the future, whether you comments are valid or not. If you want to be credible then you need to post the facts. So maybe you can ask yourself this question. "Are my comments making the Lakers a more enjoyable team to follow, or am I turning everyone off from the Purple and Gold?"
What are you talking about? I find alot of things wrong with the Lakers, check the posts, look it up. I just don't see why you side with the enemy. Disgusting..Delete this thread from before my face before I puke.

It's annoying when people become fans because of their past, and then follow them forever. Some people belive that the Celtics will win the 'ship, simply because the celtics have more championships than any other team . When people critisize my teams, I defend them because I am not a fairweather fan. That's not bias, just pride and faith in my squads. How can a fan possibly be bad for a team? If your team won the championship three out of four years, obviously the things that are wrong with them are irrelevant, and can be overlooked by the fans.

Me being a fan of the Lakers has nothing to do with their past. I did plenty of supporting during the pathetic Cedric Ceballos & Sedale Threat years. MDE does a great job of supporting the Lakers, but he also makes obnoxious remarks and it turns people off to him and the Lakers.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting the MDE:</div><div class="quote_post"> They weren't ballhogs, they did what they needed to do. </div> You have to remember what Kobe said during their scuffle through the media: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">That's ridiculous. I have been successfully sacrificing my game for years for Shaq. That's what Phil [Jackson} wanted me to do, so I did it. Last year Phil told me Shaq was not in physical condition to carry the trust of our offense, so he asked me to do it. But then he saw Shaq was getting upset that the team wasn't running through him, so Phil asked me to pull back and I did. This year is no different; my role is whatever Phil want it to be. Period. </div> This statement implies that there has, at some point, existed some conflict over who wants/has the ball. Shaq and Kobe both assumed their respective scoring roles, but that doesn't mean that they did not go overboard in terms of egos. People have said that they do have egos. That is only something that someone from the locker room could tell you. I do not think that Horry was out of line by calling Kobe and Shaq the biggest "ballhogs" in the game.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ken:</div><div class="quote_post">I do not think that Horry was out of line by calling Kobe and Shaq the biggest "ballhogs" in the game.</div>Its funny how people forget to mention Horry said that <u>jokingly</u>.
I found Horry's comment to be VERY funny. Horry was the only Laker that I liked. He was a class act and a clutch player.

A true fan worries about his team and may criticize their play or a certain player's play from time to time, but for the most part, you cheer and defend them--Something I can't say I have seen you do.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting the MDE:</div><div class="quote_post">And Shapecity- how can you call yourself a true Laker fan when you diss the Lakers? </div> The late great Chick Hearn from time to time dissed the lakers. He told it like it was and there's nothing wrong with that. When they weren't playing well, he showed it with his frustration on the air. He would say stuff like "the lakers are just playing stupidly!!!" *sigh* I miss his play by play...the greatest announcer ever hands down... but i digress. i don't think shapecity was really dissing the lakers. I'm not sure but I think shapecity was trying to say that Kobe and Shaq are suppose to be ballhogs. It's their roles. It wasn't a negative statement. Horry's statement, on the other hand, is being taken way out of context.
I miss Horry...he may not have done "that much" for the lakers..but i think he should have stayed wiht them..i really dont think he shoudl have went to San Antonio...
I guess you can say i miss Horry..but if he left he left oh well..im really mad that he went to San Antonio..i hate that team
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Ballin03:</div><div class="quote_post">I miss Horry...he may not have done "that much" for the lakers....</div> Yeah he did nothing,he only saved your asses with a buzzer beater in the conference finals v the Kings. You would not of 3-peated without Horry.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting allnet:</div><div class="quote_post">Yeah he did nothing,he only saved your asses with a buzzer beater in the conference finals v the Kings. To say he didn't do that much for the Lakers is ludicris.
Horry should have been a career 15 and 7 player. Very lazy, very soft. Yes he hit big shots yes, but that does not make it right, this guy had the tools to be a bigger impact player.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting King James:</div><div class="quote_post">Horry should have been a career 15 and 7 player. Very lazy, very soft. Yes he hit big shots yes, but that does not make it right, this guy had the tools to be a bigger impact player.</div> Agreed. Very lazy, soft player like King James said. He would kill us when we would play teams like Blazers, Kings, Spurs, who had Webber, Sheed, Duncan. He would hit the big shots, but it could have been a whole different game if he would actually play some defense, he's not a tough player, all he has is his shot. Do I miss him? No, I respect for all he's done for the Lakers, but thats the past, we have a future hall of famer at his spot now.
Lazy, soft, no defense? Robert Horry is a smart player on defense and always came up with the loose balls and the hustle plays for the Lakers. Go back and watch how many charges he took, and how many offensive fouls he drew by anticipating where a player would go or by boxing out and drawing the over the back calls. His game declined a lot last season, but Horry always held his own on defense. I do agree he could have contributed more on offense, but he sacrificed his offense to focus on the defensive end of the court. He's was the perfect role player for the Lakers.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting King James:</div><div class="quote_post">Horry should have been a career 15 and 7 player. Very lazy, very soft. </div> whoaa, I hope you mean horry was soft and lazy on OFFENSE. Because horry played hard on D, you really can't dispute that. Purple N gold, I think you're really selling Horry short on his defense. The only reason they played him was because of his defense. He was often times overmatched, but that wasn't due to lack of effort.
I did not see Horry being nominated for any All-Defensive Teams throughout his career. Lets remember this, the Olajuwon lead Rockets were my favorite team and I grew up watching Robert Horrry, so this is not because I have some hatred for the guy, I don't hate any ball players, it is just that the kid had the tools to be much better. Like coming out of college people kept saying "Scottie Pippen" lol
