Who would you say is the best duo of all time? Jordan/Pippen Stockton/Malone Johnson/Mourning Magic/Worthy ?/?
bird/mchale west/baylor mourning/johnson...???? you smoking something? they played what? 2 or 3 years together 2 years of 500 ball, and then their 1 good season they got knocked out of the first round.
somehow, you forgot Kobe/Shaq How bout cousy/russell, they won only 9 titles together, Baylor/West as metiooned by lost elephant, they avg like 60pts between them
MJ/Pippen they would have had 8 titles Mike didnt retire the first time. Shaq & kobe have been beatable during there championship run. so there not the best duo. Stat wise Malone/stockton was a great duo & how long they were effective together is kind of incredible. But they never won a championship & they werent fun to watch so they wont get the respect they probably desevre. Larry Johnson/Zo wasnt a great duo.
I don't get why people use Championships as a 'big indicator' for individual accolades. Rarely is it on the back of 1 or 2 players you win. Look at the current lakers. The years that the whole team played great ball (1st and 2nd) they won and won convincingly. However, the last year and when they fell, it was because the TEAM game suffered. But, if you want to use championships and dominance as a sign of greatest duo, who has the best post season record? Shaq and Kobe when they swept everyone save 1 game to Philly.

I was just throwing some names up. cousy/russel was the best combo, but I personally liked Jordan/Pippen the best. Dolph Schayes/Harold Greer were a pretty good combo as well in 1960-1961.
How is stockton and malone better than kobe and shaq.. Greatness is measured in what you do in the postseason..( sorry tmac fans, its the truth)

If MJ never retired and Pippen was still with him having Jackson as the coach, they would still be undefeated to this day. Its a bold statement but its the truth.

And you can't really assume they would've won 8 consecutive titles either. Jordan was on fresh legs after two years off. That's about 200 games off. Age would've hit Jordan faster had he not stopped playing for those 2 years. Also, the rockets were really good when they won their two titles. 40 year old jordan and 35+year old pippen would never be able to be Shaq and Kobe, or Duncan for that matter.

I disagree that Pippen was overrated, I think he was more underrated. The problem with Pippen is he couldn't accept second fiddle when he started to get big, and that shone through in his attitude. I still maintain that Pippen played a major role in all of the championships Chicago won with him in the team, even though he wasn't as big as MJ.

Also, the rockets were really good when they won their two titles. 40 year old jordan and 35+year old pippen would never be able to be Shaq and Kobe, or Duncan for that matter.</div> They would have won 8 consecutive chips. the rockets werent no way close to as good as the early 90's Bulls. the rockets were like a low seeded playoff team that went on an incredible playoff run. they had young stars like Horry/Cassell who really stepped up but if they would have played a bulls team working on the 4th straight championship they would have froze up. there second champoin was because they new how to win in the playoffs. but without the first there wouldnt be a second because that second team had alot of chemistry problems Cassell/Kenny Smith and other hated the fact the Rockets trade otis troupe (I know the spelling is horrible) for Drexler.
This is probably the most underrated of duos, seein' as none of ya'll have said it............Duncan and Robinson. I think they're one of the few duos (excluding Kareem and Magic) that have actually both won MVPs. Another few duos i'd like to include: Dr.J and Moses, Clyde and Earl, and the good ole' Gary and Kemp days........
Bill Russell and Bob Cousy - I think that's already been mentioned by luggage but I'm surprised it wasn't an option on the original post.
